By 1940 3.5 billion American Chestnut trees had perished.The Hoover barn, located just outside of Hopkinsville,Ky. was built around 1920 and continued in use til the late 1970's when it was deemed too dangerous because of deteriorating condition and was deconstructed in 2007.
