The SIG SAUER® SP2022® is the latest version of Sig's popular polymer framed pistol and features a durable, lightweight and wear-resistant polymer frame. The slide is machined from a solid block of stainless steel and protected by SIG’s black Nitron® finish. The SP2022 can easily be converted from a Double-Action/Single-Action to a Double-Action Only configuration through a unique integral fire control unit. It also features the SIG SAUER four-point safety system. The SIG SAUER polymer framed pistols has earned an enviable reputation and proven track record of reliable performance in the hands of law enforcement professionals. In December of 2004 the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command at the Rock Island Arsenal awarded SIG SAUER a contract for 5,000 SIG SAUER SP2022 pistols chambered in 9mm. The SP2022 – the only polymer framed pistol engineered to perform, built to protect and good enough to be called a SIG SAUER.

Doug CKnowing that these were in short supply and that anyone who had them in 9mm were asking WAY more than they should have, I decided that Bud's would be my choice for my first handgun purchase. The Sig Sauer SP2022 was a fantastic choice, and Bud's was fast, helpful and wasn't gouging their sellers with "gun crazy" pricing for no reason. I bought from the right online store. Within a week, I was holding my SP2022 and ready to hit the range. As for the Sig, I couldn't be happier. The SP2022 is more than a decade old Sig, but still seems to be flying under the radar for some reason. It's one of the few polymer handguns in Sig's vaunted lineup, so it always seems to be the red-headed stepchild. When you compare to the Glock 19 and other similar polymer guns in this price range, it was a clear winner for me. Quality of build, Sig's reputation and the best fit of the bunch for me made it a clear choice. I also LOVE the decocker on this gun, too. Other than a stubborn grip system on mine, I have ZERO complaints about the gun. Hitting a bulls-eye on round #2 through the gun was also a nice touch, too. 300-rounds later, I am still in love, and the SP2022 just keeps getting better and better. Yes, the gun only comes with one magazine (bummer) and now it ships in a cheap cardboard box (bummer #2) instead of the nice Sig case, but considering the price point, you would expect some concessions in certain areas. The magazines look to be coming into a better supply chain right now, so that will bring the costs back down into acceptable prices. Pick up a Plano small single gun plastic case and you have all you need. I love the pistol, but now my problem is trying to convince the wife that we *need* a Sig P232 or a P238 in the house. Oh, and if you plan to CC or shoot often indoors and your range lanes can tend to be on the darker side, I would choose the night sites. I shot indoors for the first time yesterday and found the dark range hellish on my 40-something bifocal needing eyes. I was wishing for the night sights for the first time. Might look to retrofit those at some point if my indoor range time increases.
