Yes, this carbine does have a bolt catch. No sure why another reviewer claimed it doesn't. JRC stated that you are not supposed to use steel cased ammo in this rifle. I was using Federal .45ACP and it worked flawless. I believe this carbine to be very well machined and manufactured. Took it out to the range and 100 rounds later...it is now my favorite rifle. Very accurate, no feeding issues and has a solid feel to it. I placed an EOTech sight with a G33 Magnifier on it. Had it zeroed in quickly and it holds zero with no issues. You MUST use factory Glock magazines!!!! That is the only caveat I have found. I tried some mags made in Korea. They did not feed well. So, back to the factory Glock mags and had no trouble after that. JRC's book does state to use only real Glock magazines. No issues there! Once the mag is empty, the bolt doesn't stay open. So that is the only small thing I had to get used too. Do not hesitate to buy this carbine. You will fall in love with it. Heavy, well machined and will surely last a long time.

Not reliable. Poor ergonomics, no bolt catch.

Buds is my favorite gun store, several perfect transactions. Ordered Sunday evening and picked it up that Thursday, at the best price available. I know I'll like this little carbine, it's going to host my suppressor just fine.

Baxter, yes you can use +P ammo. Taken from JRC website -- "It should not be a problem for you to use Plus-P ammo in your JR Carbine. We initially prohibited Plus-P ammunition because the JR Carbine is a direct blowback weapon with a non-locking bolt. The added power of Plus-P ammunition caused a significant increase in gas discharge through the ejection port without giving any ballistic advantage over conventionally charged cartridges. We were concerned that the higher power ammunition could cause the bolt to move rearward too soon in the firing sequence, before the chamber pressure had dropped sufficiently, thereby prematurely exposing the case wall and causing potentially dangerous case failures. We have subsequently modified our bolt design and significantly increased the weight of our proprietary buttstock buffer. As a result the bolt stays in battery for a longer period, directing more of the combustion gases into the barrel and out of the muzzle. Plus-P ammunition may or may not provide a significant increase in performance at this point, but it should not cause any problems."

Hi Mike, Yes it will without issue. This Gen3 will handle a wide variety of different types of Hollow Point rounds without issue.

It accepts Glock 21 magazines. Get Glock factory mags not aftermarket knock offs for best results.
