I want to sell it. It looked like a great buy. It got pretty good reviews. It has excellent features. Is it at the same level as the Remington 700 and other similar rifles? No, it isn't but, it should get me on target at the aim-point I send downrange. The main problem is the proprietary magazine system Savage created just for the second generation of this rifle. The magazines do not want to seat properly. They refuse to stay in the magazine well after insertion. As a result the rounds aren't picked up by the bolt and inserted into the chamber. I can say the trigger seems very crisp especially when firing on an empty chamber. The lack of recoil when the chamber is empty is awesome. I mean, so what if I don't put any holes in my target right. I'm just spending money to go to the range to pretend to shoot. I do save money on non-expended ammunition though. So, there's that right? I could buy an expensive aftermarket stock system that will fit AICS mags but, there isn't any documentation that I can find that says the stocks systems out there even fit this particular gun. Plus, I have a difficult time wanting to buy something that costs more than the gun did just to make it truly functional. Shouldn't I expect at least a basic functionality right out of the box? I could not, in good conscience, recommend this rifle as a club much less a rifle. I can't afford a replacement right now but, I think I just made the decision to sell this gun to a pawn shop and save up for a better rifle. I might be able to get a better price from selling it to a friend but, then I'd lose that friendship. Over a measly extra hundred bucks or so? The friendship would be worth more to me than an firearm that doesn't function as advertised.

My favorite bolt gun to date. Jeweled bolt, oversized bolt handle, adjustable trigger out of the box? Stuck with Remington 700 vs Savage 10? Pick the savage, it's a mean machine.

Rifle is great! People complain about the mag, but I’ve had zero issues. The rifle itself is heavy, but manageable.

An outstanding rifle, regardless of the low price. A wonderful trigger, and great accuracy. Never had a Savage before but I am a complete convert. The heavy barrel makes recoil almost non existent, and with a Harris bipod and my Primary Arms 4-14 ACSS scope, I can regularly and reliable hit 8" plate out to 500 yds. Love this gun!

I took the weapon to the range today and very pleased with its performance. The Savage Accutrigger system was wonderful. For a $600 rifle, the overall accuracy was better than expected. While using 168g BTHP Hornady TAP, it shot 1 MOA right out of the box. Outstanding! The rifle is extremely lightweight. I imagine that's a plus for anyone who is going to use the rifle for hunting. If you're going to be using the weapon in a tactical capacity, I would suggest something with a bit more weight. That's just my preference. The only negative issue I could find was with the magazine. Inserting the magazine into the well was troublesome. It would not seat without cleanly and required some extra effort. On a scale from 1-5, my overall rating would be a 4. If you're on a tight budget and would like a .308, I would highly recommend buying the Savage.

As usual, great price and quick service from Bud's. I was looking to get into distance shooting without spending more than a grand. Heard lots of good things about the accuracy of the Savage 10. I also read, and it's true, that this is not the old version of the FCP-SR which had a 20 MOA base and better bottom metal, but those were not show stoppers for me. Took this out to the range and 3 out of 4 off the shelf brands of match ammo shot 1 MOA or better and I am not a practiced precision shooter. The gun is way more accurate than I am and this was a great place to start. Decent finish, the stock is solid, trigger is adjustable but was fine at the factory setting. Definitely happy with my purchase.
