2nd of 3 Steyr pistols I've bought from Bud's. First off, Bud's continues to impress with speedy product delivery and unmatched customer service. As far as the pistol? I was a bit leery of a compact .40S&W, but the low bore axis and grip angle render muzzle flip virtually nil. Felt recoil reminds you that you're not handling a peashooter, but it is manageable. As with my other Steyrs, the S40-A1 is incredibly accurate, and is probably the one that keeps me in the K5 ring more consistently than any other. Trapezoidal sights make for quick target acquisition, and negligible muzzle flip put you back on target in short order. Have only put just under 500 rounds through this pistol, but it is flawless using my standard CCI ammo. It's a bit jumpier than the M40-A1, but it is a hard hitting, superbly accurate piece of machinery. Since picking up my Steyrs, I've semi-retired or sold off a lot of my older pistols. I'll take the Steyr over any Glock, any day. Cant' express how much I love this, and my other Steyrs. If you see these guns in stock, do not fail to buy one if you're in the market.

Steyr I got from buds is the most current model available. Date code SWK which means 05/2012. I put 150 rounds with 1 failure. The recoil felt like a 9mm.Very happy with the steyr and the whole transaction with buds .

This is a fantastic firearm!!!! I own two of these now and I could not be happier. Buy this gun!! You can not beat the price or the quality. It is really to bad they are not more popular in the US. This is my first order from Buds. It did take two weeks to receive the gun, but im a patient person. It was well worth the wait.

This is a great compact .40 and my first Steyr. I've only put 100 rounds through it so I'll update again after another few hundred. I did experience 2 FTFs but this may be a matter of break in or it may be because I didn't clean the gun before I took it to the range (just couldn't wait!). This is a very accurate compact gun. Certainly plenty accurate for the short ranges typically involved in defensive situations. The recoil is only slightly more than my SR9C, which is a pretty soft shooter. The grip angle lets you get high on the bore axis so this may lessen felt recoil. The best part of this gun is the sights, however. The trapezoidal sights are intuitive and give you very rapid target acquisition. I wish I had them on all my handguns! The trigger is very light and feels more like a single action than a double action. This is good for accuracy but the combination of a light trigger and no manual safety may raise concerns for some. Also, be aware that while the photo on Bud's shows a version with the manual safety (in upper part of trigger guard) this gun DOES NOT come w/a manual safety. Overall, I highly recommend this gun. It's not only practical for a concealed carry weapon, it's fun as hell to shoot and accurate to boot!
