Alright, so you're looking at this AUG and you're probably thinking, "well... is this the one that uses the proprietary Steyr Arms waffle magazine?" The answer: Yes this is that variant. You may also be thinking, "Man! I wish that I could find a source for the extended rail version in the original Steyr AUG green!" The answer: if you're reading this review in the latter half of 2017, you probably won't, except in the STANAG variant. You may have a follow up question, "Right, but is this one the original Steyr AUG. (Like off Counter Strike or Die Hard)" The answer: Yes it is that most olive of drabs and don't feel bad for caring about the color you want. You are considering dropping a rather large sum of money on a gun which you know doesn't have a massively great reputation in terms of trigger pull, without mods, so you go get that snow white stock variation; because, baby... you ain't buyin' this sucker twice. I'm going to skip over alot of your unasked questions, because most of them have very subjective answers. Lastly, you may be wondering, "Wow this guy is great he totally answered the questions that I never asked! I bet he's a cool guy, I wonder if he likes his Steyr Arms AUG?" The answer to your quandary fine sir or ma'am: I like it, alot, but with some reservations. I knew I was getting into when I bought this thing, much as I am sure you are, armed with You-Tube knowledge I purchased this small rail OD green aug; because, I couldn't really afford to spend the extra scheckles to pick up the model with the 1.5x or 3x power intigrated optic. I realized by the time I had my extended rail shipped from Steyr Arms, (Alabama.), bought BUIS and a Trijicon RMR with a MI mount... that I had spent the same amount as if I'd just bought the model with the 1.5x... ahh, but such is life in the gun hobby wasteland. The last things I want to mention is the actual process of swapping out the smaller rail for Steyr manufacured extended rail will require a certain amount of filing on top forward most part of the rifle, it can be done by hand and leave very little cosmetically different. I won't recommend mods for the trigger, as that is very much a personal taste kind of problem, I'll only suggest that you do careful research and consider using an armorer if you aren't confident you can do it yourself, this includes with the very widely available, drop in parts available... just be wise m'kay? Your friend in bad decision making. Tom Ready.
