Lever action shotgun is awesome! Yes it would easily handle a 2-1/2 " shell and eject the shell betterl You have to be rough with the action, rock that baby full open with authority! What an absolute blast to shoot! I bought another one and will keep buying. One post said the action flimsy and riddled with burrs...he must have voted for Obama?! You guy's that posted negatively... send the firearm to me...I'll shoot the mustard out of it!

The shotgun arrived in a shipping box with very little cushion. Dispite this, the shotgun was un-marked. The oil in the shotgun is gritty, so it needs to be taken apart and cleaned (including cleaning the magazine). After cleaning, I went to the range with about 100 rounds of various types of ammo. At first the ejection was spotty - but after about 50 rounds, the shotgun began to eject reliably. The ammo that worked best for me was the Spartan 00 buck - which I found strange since it is one of the cheapest (about $9 a box of 25). After 75 rounds I looked over the shotgun and noticed that the two screws that hold in the lifter had started to back out of the holes. Also noticed the bluing was worn off near the hammer on the back of the rotating block - but I think this is just normal wear and tear. When cycling this shotgun, you cannot be gentle - it requires a firm swing of the lever to eject and cycle the next round. This shotgun is fun to shoot. The butt pad is hard plastic - so no cushion for the shoulder. Also note that after-market assessories are not readily available.

I jumped at the price to get this gun for $300, the original M1887 is around $1000 and I thought this would be a budget substitute. It is accurate, and fun to shoot, when it works. Every time I shoot it the shell catches in the extractor and fails to eject. Unless you have put about twenty rounds in it to heat it up, it will not eject properly nearly every single time. In addition, the hammer on this firearm is tiny, making it difficult to make the weapon safe sometimes. Avoid this firearm.

This shotgun plain doesn't work. It fails to extract nearly every time, and on the rare occasion that it does pull the shell from the chamber, it fails to eject it. The internals are sloppy at best, with many burrs and machining marks. The only real positive I've found with this weapon is that the wood is nicely finished.

I got this gun a couple months ago. At first the thing had issues ejecting spent shells. Mainly it was Rio buck shot that swelled up but sometimes it would "hang onto" most any shell I fired through it. I have ran through a 100 round box of federal target loads and now the gun works absolutely smooth as day. Its a fun gun and is seemingly reliable for the moment. I did opt for a life time warranty from Buds though just in case of any major breakage. So far so good though. Dont buy this gun expecting it to be reliable and youll be fine.
