Mossberg's 500 pump-action shotguns offer an amazing amount of gun for an unbeatable price. The variety of stock barrel and finish options alone would assure the place of the 500 in the hearts of outdoorsmen. But of course its performance in the field goes a long way in cementing its reputation with millions of hunters as well. First and foremost the 500 is built to the same uncompromising mil-specs as the renowned Mossberg 590. Then a host of features are introduced - Quiet Carry dual-action bars 3'' chambers and an ambidextrous safety to name a few. Some models also include factory-ported barrels; the industry's first fully-rifled slug barrel and our Trophy Slugster. A simple change of barrel and/or choke tubes is all that's required to take one shotgun from upland birds to waterfowl to turkey to deer.

I am just writing to inform you of some quality issues on my brand new Mossberg 500Combo. I had heard and read nothing but good things about this shotgun but so far not so pleased and the following will explain why%uFFFD I took out my brand spanking new 500 persuader two days in a row (1/3/15 & 1/4/15), each day we shot 100 rounds. KEEP IN MIND THIS REVIEW IS ON MOSSBERG500COMBO 12Gauge SHOTGUN ONLY and not Buds - Buds is simply the best...
Day one, only one hiccup which was a FTF (failure to fire) at roughly the 30 round mark. Not thinking it%uFFFD%uFFFDs the brand new shotgun, we properly took care of the %uFFFD%uFFFDbad shell%uFFFD%uFFFD. No problems for the remainder of the day. Took her home and cleaned proper.
Day two, after the 11th round she started FTF back to back, then she would fire every 3rd shot. Progressively getting worse to a point when 6 out of 6 shots where FTFs. At this point out of a box of 25 Winchester rounds 10 of them FTF%uFFFD%uFFFDed. Now at this point, I am thinking Winchester would not have that poor of quality control when almost half of them FTF%uFFFD%uFFFDed. So we started looking at the dimple from the firing pin on the FTF shells and the expended ones. Below you will see a photo with two shells for comparison and it is obvious which one the firing pin didn%uFFFD%uFFFDt have enough force to fire. (no options to attach photo)
Now without listening to me my old man shot the %uFFFD%uFFFD10 bad shells%uFFFD%uFFFD out of his dependable side by side with no issues what so ever. Finished the off the box of shells and pigeons with dads shotgun with major disappointment in my investment in Mossberg%uFFFD Must be too distracted with the Dynasty boys to care about quality%uFFFD and if I were them I wouldn%uFFFD%uFFFDt want my name associated with Mossberg. Does not make me a happy customer when I have to ship off my new shotgun to get fixed after roughly 125 rounds put down range.

The gun seems exactly as advertised. I was trying to decide between this gun and the Remington 870. I looked at lots of independent reviews and found that they were both very similar in almost every way. The only reason I went with this gun is because I have 2 friends who own the 870. Both of them have had problems feeding cheap ammo. After a few rounds their chamber gets hot and the spent shell gets stuck and the gun won't cycle. After about 30 seconds or so the gun cools down and the spent shell can be ejected and the gun cycled. My oldest son has the Mossberg 88 Maverick, which shoots and cycles anything and everything. So, that was my deciding factor. I have not had the opportunity to shoot this gun yet, but after receiving it I stripped it down and thoroughly cleaned it. The internal components all seem to be of good quality and workmanship. It is very smooth to operate the action. So far I am very pleased. This was my first purchase with Buds and it was also a great experience. I have been following them for a few years and all the comments were about their shipping speed. After I placed the order I read a couple of current reviews stating about 3 weeks from order placement to order receipts. I ordered it on Monday (holiday) and on Thursday I was able to pick it up from my FFL even though Buds told me it would ship within 3-5 business days. They have definitely earned my business, especially with the availability of the lifetime warranty. Way to go BUDS!!!

Cannot beat this for the money. Very nice solid shotgun. Great looking wood furniture, 28" ported vent rib barrel with full set of accu chokes and 18" cyl barrel with pistol grip for $330, what a deal. As always buds was great and had the best price anywhere. Thanks again.
