The Colt 1991 Series is a direct descendant of the original Colt M1911. A long trigger, flat mainspring housing and original style recoil spring system remain from the original M1911 design. Upgrades from the original include white dot sights and a lowered ejection port for extra reliability. It still remains “the standard” that everyone tries to imitate, but no one duplicates.

This Colt model 01991 .45 acp is incredible. The Blue finish is beautiful . The lettering is straight and well done. Sweet trigger with a short reset. I was a little afraid of spending this much money on line. Bud's delivered as promised and the La-away is a affordable way for me to purchase a $980 firearm. I cleaned it twice with Ballistal and went shooting. After 100 rounds of 230gr Speer FMJ and 12 rounds of 165gr Corbon JHP P. I can say I am very pleased. I had one jam on the last round of the second mag with FMJ. I will be replacing the magazines with some from Wilson Combat (8 round). Colt needs to work on their mags. I have owned eight .45s over the past 35 years. This Colt is very accurate and mild to shoot for a .45. If you are new to shooting and having trouble deciding on what to buy in this caliber, first and foremost, buy metal!!! You cant go wrong with a Colt!!!

Buds service was great, and the price was spot on.

Aesthetics – A+ ; Roll stamp is straight, centered, crisp and clear. Deep and dark bluing that make this 1911 appear almost black. Dark rosewood double diamond grips contrast perfectly with the bluing. 1911 arrived lightly oiled, and in perfect condition. Came with two 7 round Colt magazines in the standard Colt case.

Function – A+ ; Firearm ran like a champ, sent several mags of Federal full metal jacket ball, Federal and Winchester jacketed hollow point, and Federal expanding full metal jacket rounds down range without an issue. Recoil was very manageable. No issues with thumb bite from the spur hammer. Colt ran smooth and consistent living up to the Colt legend. Crisp and clean trigger break, trigger was smooth and broke like glass, no gritty feeling or excess slack to take up.

Accuracy – B ; This Colt is as accurate as I am. As long as I do my part, the Colt will do its part. Sights are the typical GI style sights, blade and post with the addition of 3 white dots which make it easier to sight than the typical GI sights without white dots. In the future I may add night sights to this Colt.
Overall I am very happy with this 1911. Seems the stock is in and out with Buds on these 1911’s so if you are on the fence about getting one and they have on in stock, you may want to act fast, as these go fast, because after all they are a Colt!

This is a great gun. It is my first 1911 and I don't think I could have made a better choice for my first.

Best mil 1911 series 80 there is. Buds had the best price I found out there and in stock. Which is rare when it comes to colt handguns. no off center roll stamp like others commented on. Mine was perfect in every way. This one worked perfectly out of the box.....so far anyways. Time will tell. Lots of talk out there about sharp edges...I didn't notice anything sharp or uncomfortable. Don't be afraid of the mil spec versions. No hammer bite or grip safety pinching or sharp edge cutting. I was debating between the 1991 the ao and the ria versions. Pony gun won me over. worth the extra money, imho. Ymmv.
