Shot the gun maybe 5 times since purchased New in 2009 doesn't eject spent casing and wants to double feed/stove pipe after 1 shot I only use Hornady, Buds has been A but I've had the gun so long it's probably long past warranty

Style and grace. The power is there and will get the attention of the range, but the mechanics of the desert eagle allows for a comfortable experience as far as recoil goes. Wish I could buy them all!

Everything I could have asked for. Brand new, federally compliant 2 day shipping. Gun cycles federal 240 gr SJHP great! Easy ordering, first time ordering from an online retailer, would definitely order again.

Firearm shipped from Bud's timely and arrived within the specified time frame. It was as described, in factory new condition, so thumbs up to Bud's - I wouldn't hesitate to buy another firearm from them. As for the weapon itself, well what can I say? It is a big, heavy beast, and operating the slide definitely requires some muscle. Also, the thumb safety leaves much to be desired, as it is a definite reach for anyone with less than x-large hands (mine fit somewhere between large and extra large). That said, it's not that big of a problem when using a two-handed grip, which is nearly mandatory for most people. Also, I'm not a big fan of the finish - I've treated this weapon pretty carefully (or as carefully as you can when handling such a big brute), but I've already noticed a few small scratches on it. Would have hoped for a more durable finish, given the cost of this gun. That's pretty much it for my complaints. As for the positive aspects of this gun, although it's heavy, I find it to be extremely well-balanced. I never felt like I had to muscle it into position and, most importantly, it is extremely accurate. When shooting 240 grain Magtech JSP rounds, it was actually pretty pleasant to shoot with a very manageable recoil. I never experienced a failure to feed and managed to shoot approximately 3" groups at 35 meters after snapping in with only one magazine. I also bought the .50 cal. conversion kit. It's incredibly fast and easy to swap out barrels, which is nice. Although the 50 is not as pleasant to shoot as the 44, it's still not nearly as bad as some reviewers might lead you to believe. The Hornady 300 grain rounds I used were also very accurate, but I did initially experience a few failures to feed due to limp-wristing the weapon. After correcting that problem, the firearm performed flawlessly. That said, I'm usually ready to switch back to the 44 after shooting approximately 4 magazines (28 rounds) of the 50. In short, I found this weapon to be a well-made, very accurate firearm. It's a lot like a high-end sports car - it's not really practical for everyday use, you have to maintain it properly, and it's pretty unforgiving if you don't use the correct ammunition and firing techniques. However, if you respect it for what it is and accept the fact that you have to treat it a bit differently than your other handguns, it will prove itself to be a truly formidable weapon.

The gun really and truly is a respectable piece. It's easy to take apart, a joy to shoot, and very accurate with light recoil. My only complaint on this gun is the rust. I find myself having to oil it a lot due to it's matte black finish it rusts easily so you'd be smart to clean it every time it's handled.

Thanks to the folks at Magnum Research for making a great decision awhile back. They chose to build all (almost) of their guns in the states with rare exception. One of which is this Desert Eagle 44 magnum black. Made by IWI (formerly IMI) in Israel it was the last contracted model Magnum Research had IMI building. They gave IMI a call a few years back and told them to keep on cranking that specific model out. This is what became the California Desert Eagle and it's just as great as all of their current models of Desert Eagle. So now there can be small changes to the US model and it won't affect CA's ability to get the (never to change) Israeli model. Of course why change perfection, right? Easy to shoot full house 44 magnums as it is 38 target loads. A nice gently and slightly longer "Push" is all recoil boils down to, not the sharp rap that is most common thought of with magnum cartridges. Best part is, this CA model is right up with current US offerings and as such will accept all of the caliber conversions the US model does. Want to shoot a fifty? Not a problem as all it takes is a barrel and magazine and you're off and running. Couldn't be happier with my purchase and many thanks to Buds for the trade, layaway, and finally the great price you sold this gun for. Will continue to shop for all my firearms needs through Bud's.

Used Bud's layaway option which made the DE affordable. The transaction was fluid, seamless, and quick. The California model differs only in having a small plunger below the firing pin which retracts a wire spring when depressed to free the firing pin. Took about 30 seconds to figure out and removal of the plunger return coil spring insures the firing pin with strike solidily as with allnon-CA models. Fit and finish is excellent and smooth yet stiff due to new springs. The CA model is marked as being made in Israel for those interested. I got a deal on 180 gr full house ammo and the DE has functioned 100% - no FTF or FTE or any malfunction. The key of course is full power ammo combined with a strong grip and wrist to help the massive slide do its work! The DE is a solid, reliable, even practical choice for those traveling into the outback or harm's way. Due to its mass and long stroke gas operation the DE can be fired as rapidly as any .45acp with the major difference being 3x more kinetic energy! As to whether I'd buy again...this is my third DE and I'm hanging on to it!

impractical, huge, almost 5 lbs., low 8+1 capacity, total waste of money but, one of the most interesting and awesome pistols of our modern time. the iron sights left a little to be desired so i installed trijicon night sights for $117. HUGE improvement, even in daytime because of the little white circles around the tritium lamps. the factory hard plastic grip was not that great so i installed the finger grove hogue for $49 and it's now a pleasure to hold even one handed. field stripping and cleaning is so simple and easy. the first time i fired it, i stood flat footed with a squared up stance with locked elbows and it almost put me on my heels (i'm 6' 2" 265 lbs.) i have to use a proper stance and grip to control my shots. recoil is a little bit more than a +P .45ACP. i shot it at an indoor range with people next to me shooting 9mm, .40s&w, .45acp. their guns sounded like pop, pop, pop, crack, crack, crack. this thing makes a BOOM, BOOM, BOOM. it was so loud everybody stopped shooting and watched me shoot this thing. one guy asked his buddy "what is that? and why is it so dang loud?" every friend that i've shown it to, the first two words out of their mouth are "HOLY SH*T!" if your looking for a big bore semi-exotic functional show piece to round out your collection this thing fits the bill. if i find and extra $450 laying around i will probably buy the .50 AE barrel and magazine just for kicks. but even if i don't i'm very happy and satisfied with the .44 MAG. i did have a slight issue with the bolt/slide assembly going into battery after firing. magnum research sent me a prepaid fed ex overnight shipping label for in warranty repair. i got it back within 7 days with a note indicating they polished the feed ramp and it's been trouble free ever since. MRI customer service is one of the best i have ever dealt with. GOOD JOB MRI and thank you john motschenbacher. overall i'm extremly happy with this pistol and the company that stands behind it.
