The most durable shotgun on the planet. Born of the gunmaking expertise that brought you the best-selling, most trusted shotgun of all time, the Model 870, the Model 887 Nitro Mag is an armor-clad warrior here to carry the torch of our great pump-gun legacy through the most extreme conditions on earth. Our Exclusive ArmorLokt process seal the receiver and barrel in a vault of weather-impervious synthetic armor that's both completely rustproof and tough as nails. Similar to the Model 870, it's receiver is crafted of solid steel and the barrel is hammer forged to last a lifetime. Twin steel action bars ensure smooth, positive chambering and ejection. And the sleek receiver design, awesome balance and natural pointing characteristics spell trouble for any bird within reach of its 12-gauge 3 1/2" Super Magnum capability. The extremely rugged synthetic stock and fore-end are ergonomically contoured to offer a positive grip and comfortable handling. Swivel studs are built- in. Model 887 Nitro Mag Tactical combines supreme toughness and dependability with a handy 18 1/2" barrel, a 2-shot magazine extension and a barrel clamp with integral Picatinny rails for mounting your flashlight or other accessories. It also includes a ported, extended tactical Rem Choke and receiver mounted on Picatinny rail.

I was seduced by the "tacti-cool" look of this shotgun, and the mistaken belief it was based on the 870. It is not! A plethora of problems: slide locked shut, FTE's, double feeds.

This is the finest shotgun I have ever used. As a deputy Sheriff starting in 1972. I have shot about every firearm you can imagine. This is Remingtons best pump ever. That's hard to believe that I like it more than any of my 870s, but I do.

I debated for awhile on purchasing a new Home Defense/Survival Shotgun, the two final contenders were the Remington 887 Tac, and the Mossberg 590A1.

As it's now obvious, I chose the 887 Tac Shotgun.

I ordered it on lay a way through Buds, and their service was awesome, Super Fast Shipping! at my FFL in 3 days from final payment! The Shotgun checked out all good with no issues straight out of the box, I happily accepted the FFL and took it home, cleaned it good and then took it to the range.

First shot and the gun Jams, Entire Bolt locked up, extractor claw on the spent shell but would not budge! I disassembled my shotgun, made sure it was properly lubed and everything was aligned right ( The Rotating bolt assembly can be tricky at first to get locked into the receiver perfect) I loaded some shells in and the same thing, only this time I got it to finally eject the spent round and with some force I muscled through 2 or 3 rounds and it was becoming easier to cycle. I was thinking perhaps the gun just needed to be broke in as most guns do, however soon it started double feeding shells into the receiver, one would load and one would fall out the bottom. Finally I got tired of trying to figure out the issue on my own and went to the internet! After reading a few forums and Remington help discussions it seemed apparent many people had this same issue and remington had sent them a new more advanced trigger assembly.

I contacted Remington, gave the lady on the phone my information and product serial number told her my issue and told her what I believed the issue was. Trying to avoid sending my shotgun back in I asked if I could just get a trigger assembly shipped to me. The lady checked to see if they were in stock, confirmed they were and it was on my doorstep 5 days later. Disassembled my shotgun, put in the new trigger assembly, took it to the range and it works like a dream! No stuck bolt, no double feeding shells into the receiver! Couldn't ask for a smoother shooting shotgun, plus the fact it can hold 7 1 and comes with Armlokt coating and built in piicatinny rounds? It's an Ideal Home Defense weapon, my only complaint is that it didnt have out of the box shoot-a-blity. However, Remington did a great job in resolving the problem and standing behind their product.
