After looking at reviews of the PT111 from many different sources I decided to go ahead and get one. I also purchased an additional magazine for it as it only comes with two from the factory. I've had it for a few weeks now, and I have put over a dozen different types/brands of FMJ and HP rounds totaling a little over 600 rounds through the pistol without any issues. Here are my observations so far.
PROS: The sights are easy to adjust and use, the magazines work well, and the grip fits my hand (as well as several other people's) well with nice texturing. The pistol is also a single/double action with a subtle chamber indicator on the top of the slide. It is very easy to disassemble and clean. Also, the pistol is very easy to conceal. Being a double stack does not work against the PT111 G2 and is still has a very slim profile. The cost! At under $300 it's a great deal for a solid 9mm compact pistol. And finally, Taurus has a lifetime warranty.
CONS: I am not a fan of the extremely long take up on the trigger, but it does break very nicely. The coating on the slide could be better as it is very easy to scratch and rub off with minimal use. I plan to cerakote it the slide to correct the problem. Lastly, it only comes with two magazines, and extras cost between $30-45.
I would have to say the PT111 G2 is on par with the other complacts in its class, like the S&W M&P Shield, Sig P938, Ruger LC9, Walther PPS, Kahr CM9, Beretta Nano, etc.
Thanks again to Buds for quality service and fast shipping.
