I like the made in USA. However this pistol was boxy, bulky, not nearly as refined and some. It did shoot well, I traded it!

Excellent shooter and built like a tank. Snappy compared to other guns in its class, but totally manageable.

This Ruger American .45 acp compact is one of the most comfortable, well balanced, smoothest functioning, lightweight compact guns that I have held in a very long time. Typically I’m not a fan of compact handguns because I have pretty big hands. This handgun was actually very comfortable and for a fully loaded .45 it didn’t feel very heavy to me. I really like the overall size. It’s very easy to strip in just a few steps and I also really liked the overall accuracy. Overall, I’m very satisfied and would love to get a twin. 🤘🏻

Best striker fired .45 on the market. The other caliber American pistols are okay but have some steep competition. They are kinda middle of the road. When comparing this to the other brands in .45 they really are the top of the heap. Could have afforded a much more expensive pistol but why waste your money on something that is inferior? Try this after you try the rest and you'll agree!

I tend to carry larger guns so I was looking for something smaller but in .45. this gun is the perfect size for me. Small enough to conceal outside waistband but big enough to have 8+1 or 10+1 in .45.
This was all great but then I shot it. It shoots so smoothly - not a target gun but you cannot not hit your target. It's a smooth shooting gun that ate every round I fed it.
BUT all that and the price? You could pay double for a .45 and not get as good a gun. This may be the best value on the gun market today.

Recently bought the Ruger American Pistol compact 45 ACP. Took it to the range and put about 200 rounds thru it. Of course I cleaned and lubed it before taking it to the range. The gun ran flawless. I did different drills firing slowly and others with quick double taps. I was extremely happy with it. The next day I field stripped the gun to clean and lube it, this is where I had a problem. When I field stripped it and took the guide rod out the spring popped off. That is not supposed to happen on this pistol. After trying to get it back on and being unsuccessful I called Ruger and explained what happened. They confirmed that the spring is not supposed to come off the guide rod, they asked how old it was and how many rounds had been fired from it. I told them I just got it and it has 200 rounds thru it. They put me on hold then came back and told me they would be sending me an updated guide rod and spring. I received the new guide rod in just a few days, installed it and racked and dry fired it numerous times. It seems to be fine. Even though I just recently bought the gun from Buds when I ran the serial number it showed the gun was manufactured three years ago. I guess thats why I was sent an "updated " guide rod. I have not been able to get back to the range yet, had to have shoulder surgery and will not be shooting for a while. I will go the range and have one of my friends put another couple hundred rounds thru it and see what happens. When I do I will update the review. I really do like how it shot and how it feels in my hand.I also have the RAP 45 ACP in the pro duty model and have had zero issues with it. Hopefully that will be the case now with the compact. I have owned numerous Rugers and in my experience their customer service is excellent.

First; we'll get Buds out of the way-Great retailer. No issues, would recommend to everyone! Second; Ruger knocked it out of the park with this weapon. It is, hands down, the smoothest shooting .45acp , I've ever fired. Superb trigger, great accuracy, tamed recoil, very concealable and very well made. Upon pre-firing take down, I had one minor issue with the larger recoil spring. The spring slipped past the lip when I released it from the barrel. It took a bit of effort to reset it, but when accomplished, buttoned up the clean pistol and headed to my range. Very impressed with this pistol. It will be my EDC and it makes me wonder why, I bought smaller caliber handguns. 100% American made, Ruger, I thank you. Keep em' coming.
