Best little concealed handgun ever! I carry it either in holster, pocket or briefcase.

Very stout little pocket rocket, used to be my daily pocket carry. Lightweight, thin, easy to carry, good for up close defense. I no longer own this, but that's simply because I decided to upgrade with a Glock 43 instead. For what this is, a .45 ACP pocket derringer, you couldn't get much better. It has a pretty hefty trigger pull, but that's expected with this being a simple point and pull the trigger design (no manual-safety or having to cock a hammer). One round per trigger pull, of course, for those thinking this is going to dual fire, that's not the case. Also has a compartment in the grip for storing a double round speed strip, although reloading this isn't going to be very fast or easy. You do have to manually extract the spent casings, which can be done with a knife, or even your fingernails... However that might be pretty difficult just doing it with your fingers... Being what it is, a derringer style handgun. It is a good design, at least compared to other derringers that I've fired. You do feel the recoil on this, right in the web of your hand, like catching a baseball bat being swung at you... Some loads are a bit worse than others. But I didn't find it all that terrible, of course the most rounds I would put through this in a single range session would maybe be 20 or so... And I felt it the next day, just a little tender.. Honestly that's expected for something that is intended for a last ditch defensive handgun though, if you are in the market for a small, lightweight, pocket carry, I would consider this. Of course this isn't good at extended ranges, at least I couldn't hit much reliably past a few yards. Also I would have liked a better grip angle/shape or design something like a rubberized back-strap that would have softened the recoil up a bit more...

Very fast shipping & no problems with Bud's!! 1st time Buyer but with their prices I will be back. I 1st loaded the gun w/185gr JHP by Federal. Lower barrel failed to fire on first try two times. Two more rounds in each barrel fired fine. My hand was a little sore. Then I loaded it with 200gr JHP by Fioocchi. Fired both barrels twice with no misfires but I didn't want to shoot anymore!! Recoil MUCH worse with 200gr. I'm thinking about trying Cor-Bon 165gr. 573 M.E. 1250 M.V. Snag free design. I live in a Complex with outside mailboxes, detached carport, etc. Much smaller then my Glock 30 & 36 for quick trips outside.

I bought new in box from Bud's and went to the range to test fire. It fired twice (quite literally a DoubleTap) and then ceased to function. I called DoubleTap Defense, they did send me prepaid, return postage. I was told that the repair would take up to 3 weeks and that they would replace the firing pin module with a new "upgraded model with titanium pins." Upon receipt, I took it to the range to fire. It fired a total of 4 shots (along with multiple misfires during the 4 actual shots) and then ceased to function again. Same problem! The firing pins are only very lightly tapping the primer leaving little to no indentation. Upon further inspection, the top firing pin would not budge at all after a few rounds. DoubleTap assured me that they would place a new replacement in the mail for me on July 30 or "no later" than July 31. However, I still haven't received my replacement and have been unable to reach them since (no response to e-mail and their phone is currently disconnected). They won't provide tracking info and I still have no firearm. If you check them out online you will see that they parted ways with Heizer and have quite a few bad reviews (light primer taps, misfires, won't respond to customer requests, etc.) A great concept but a faulty product.

Nice weapon. It has a good feel, quality looks good, and the business end is very intimidating. Fits nicely in the hip pocket of your jeans. It's roughly the same size as most 380 autos, but slimmer. The only downside I've found so far is that it kills on both ends. The recoil is not for the weak. If you want to earn your man card or prove you have one this it the gun for you. I have no doubt that in dire circumstances the recoil would not be an issue. I may order the 9mm barrel set for diversity and lower recoil.
