After the experience of purchasing a 9mm 1911 from another gun maker, that the slide was very disappointingly loose, I examined a lot of other 1911's in the last 5 months, including all makes, and every Rock Island Armory, Armscor, Citadel available in gun shops I visited from Michigan to Florida, including Buds in Lexington. What I found assured me that Armscor, RIA 1911's were a precision machined, high quality affordable pistol! Slide to frame fit of RIA's is on the level of pistols of much more expensive models.
When this model became available, I didn't hesitate in ordering one. Wanted the 2011 tactical model with the extended dust cover with additional weight in front to reduce recoil, and great looks too!
Received the pistol in 4 days after ordering it and I was not disappointed! Same quality that I was expecting! Tight frame to slide fit and the trigger pull weight was good right out of the case, and yes, it does come well oiled down! It also does come in a plastic fitted gun case but only comes with 1 mag. (Spare Armscor, Act-Mags, available from Armscor for $18, which perform very well)
Took to the range and this pistol shoots very well as expected, and performed flawless. For the price, this pistol is probably best dollar for value spent!

Yesterday I picked up my Armsco M1911 A1 FS-Tactical 2011 (Rock Island Armory) from the FFL I used and went straight to the range and put 150 rounds through it. It performed absolutely flawlessly! It really feels like a much more expensive gun. I also found the unit to be very accurate right out of the box. Just because this is a "entry level" 1911 I spent extra time looking for flaws and I couldn't find any! As many others have mentioned it is VERY oily new, so plan a little time to clean it up.

For the money, probably the best .45 you can buy. Alot of great features for a 1911, especially the rail and ambi-safety. The parkerized finish is very basic, very GI in quality. The slide logo is a bit ostentatious for such a gun with a simple finish. The only problem I've had is the trigger is not always resetting, maybe once every 20 rds or so, preventing a follow up shot. The slide does not lock back on CMC Power Plus 10 round magazines. No feeding or extracting issues though, and accuracy is very good. Will have to send it to Armscor for warranty repair. Otherwise, I'd have left a 4/5 rating! I also have a 9mm Tactical model, and have had zero issues with that, so hopefully this trigger issue is just an anomaly!
