This is the first .45 caliber 1911 I have purchased and I am EXTREMELY happy with it! Buds shipped the order very quickly (i.e next day) and could not be happier with their price or service. The day I picked it up from my FFL I took it home and gave it a thorough cleaning. It was not very dirty, what you would expect to see from a single test shot, but it was a little dry and very tight. I had read in reviews they build these guns to very tight specs and now believe it. The fit and finish is very good. I took it to the range the first chance I got and put 100 rounds of cheap Armscor FMJ through it. The second round in the first magazine I had a failure to feed, but that was it. The other 99 rounds were perfect. It is quite accurate also, I was impressed by how tight of a group I could shoot on the first day out. I used the two Remington magazines that came with it plus a Mec-Gar and had only the one singe failure to feed from Remington mag.

I you are looking for a great 1911 at a great price I highly recommend the Remington R1. It is a joy to shoot and I am quite impressed with it.

Ordered the Remington 1911 R1 from Buds - picked it up at my local FFL a couple of weeks later. No problem with Bud's - will definitely use them again. The 1911 is nice quality, shoots better than my S&W M&P 9mm. I like the weight of it (easier to control than a synthetic). Have put maybe 200 rounds through it. Had a couple of FTF's but that was probably the ammo.
No complaints about the firearm. Good value for the money.
