I will call this the best 1911 out of the box for the $. Has been flawless since we got it Christmas of 14. Good price and great service from Buds. We'll be back.

Just secured this 45 from Buds. My first 1911 so take this with a grain of salt. I have medium hands and it feels great. Heavier than composite guns but that's to be expected. Slide is VERY tight but will likely loosen up after some break-in. Trigger is not too heavy and there is a tiiiiny bit of creep to it. Actually kind of feels like a dual stage trigger. Comes with an 8+1 and 7+1 mag, trigger lock and soft case. No expended cartridges in the case so I assume the pistol was not test fired. However, upon cleaning, I did wipe some black grease from its internals...possibly carbon which would suggest a test fire. Probably have to ask Ruger for a definite answer. Aesthetically, this is a beautiful gun...to the point where I almost feel bad holstering it or being too rough with it. This is not the case with my black composite guns...so...I guess points off for being too pretty?? Great price point for a 1911 that's made in the USA. I used the layaway program and payed this lady off in 2 months. Each check/echeck took 5 business days to clear and 7 days after my final payment, I had the firearm in my hand. $50-$75 cheaper than Academy or Dumber than Dirt Guns and you are responsible for your own tax...at least in Texas. Definitely recommend the purchase for someone who wants a 1911 but doesn't want to shell out $400 extra for the prancing pony on the side. As always, a pleasure doing business with Buds. Thanks yall.

Bought this on a Sunday and it was in my hands on Thursday morning, The gun was in perfect shape. My first transaction with Bud's was flawless

I am not a 1911 guru, but have owned my own vintage combat 1911 for 25 years, and have a deep personal affection for it. I only felt the need to buy a new one because I now carry a 5" 1911 and did not want to holster-wear my baby. I read as much as I could on basic 1911s and the Ruger kept coming up as solid, reliable and a good shooter. Then I saw Bud's (and others) had this gun on sale for bargain prices. I jumped in with both feet.

On Friday, my son and I went to the range to break it in. We shot 150 rds of federal aluminum 230 ball, 150 rds of Sig Sauer 230 ball, 100 rds of Winchester white box 230 jhp, 100 rds and 50 rds of Hornady xtp 185 jhp.

There was one FTF on mag 2, round 2. But further inspection revealed the round was actually out-of-spec, and should not be counted as a 'gun' failure (nevertheless, there it is). Other than that ... not a single hiccup. Nada. The XTP was fired dead last, when the gun was getting dirty. With the last mag, I was able to put all 7 rds in one ragged hole at 25 feet, I'd say a 1.5" group. For me, this is almost supernatural, I felt like the gun was doing it by itself. (The other ammo was maybe not so tight, but still groups were staying at a couple inches with an occasional flier, so (for me) good).

I have just purchased several boxes of XTP (pricey stuff) and several boxes of Golden Saber (not cheap, but my current favorite) to see if I was just learning the gun and getting better, and/or if this gun just loves Hornady XTP. Either way, I love this SR1911. If it shoots the XTP that well, that is what I will carry.
