Great gun. The title of this gun could be confusing. It says "Bersa 380 Thunder Matte w/15Rd Mag", however This gun is the "Bersa Thunder PLUS" which has the 15rd mag. The picture on the product page is not a picture of the bersa thunder PLUS. It is just a picture of a regular bersa thunder. It is not the same as the regular bersa thunder. It has a double stack magazine well and therefore the grips are thicker and the magazine capacity is 15 instead of 7.
I like that a lot because it is more comfortable to hold and shoot than a regular bersa thunder with the 7rd mags in my opinion. Since it uses a different magazine than the other thunders, they are more expensive to buy and there are no aftermarket mags available yet. The only option is to buy the OEM mags from bersa at $42 a piece plus shipping. That is probably the biggest downside I have experienced. The OEM grips on the gun are very nice and are similar to hogue grips in my opinion(they feel like the same hogue rubber material, not like the cheap plastic grips that come on the regular bersa thunder). It is good that they are comfortable, because just like the magazines there are no aftermarket grips that you can swap them with, so you are stuck with the factory grips. you can buy replacement grips from bersa if you damage yours, but they are just replacement stock grips.
Took it out shooting and put 150 rounds of assorted ammo through it. Hornady critical defense ammo had no problems; Winchester white box had no problems. Tulammo was not too bad for the price, but it did have problems feeding the last round from the magazine. Therefore I would not trust tulammo for anything but target practice (not that it needs to be said). It was pretty accurate and did not have too much recoil. I could rapid fire the whole magazine at 30 feet and still stay pretty accurate.
Buds took a few days longer than promised to ship the gun; luckily i was in no rush to get it. However, the transaction went flawlessly and using the preferred ffl dealer shipping network on buds made the shipping logistics easy. I did not have to contact the receiving ffl before buying. You just click the dealer in green you want to ship to, and when they get it they call you. Once it arrived at my FFL I picked it up with no problems. It was not damaged, and it was as I expected. I wish the shipping could have been faster, but I donā%uFFFD%uFFFDt consider that a big problem and I am happy with the service overall, and very happy with the product.
This gun is also a great price at $330 $15 FFL transfer. The bersa MSRP is $400. local gun shops in my area have the regular bersa thunders for $300 TAX, which ends up being just under $330. Since I am not in Kentucky I paid no sales tax. So I got the PLUS model for only about $15 more than I would have paid for the regular model if i would have gotten it locally. I actually found a Thunder PLUS at bass pro shops locally after I purchased mine online, and they were asking $375 tax. So this is a pretty good deal.
