I am quite happy with this gun. It was my first firearm, ever, (my parents were rather anti gun) and I bought it as soon as I turned 21 and could legally do so. It is quite accurate and everytime to go to the range I can push the target out another yard or two. Minimal recoil and awesome sights. The only reason it is a 4 is because after about 1000 rounds the slide stop would not catch after the last round. I sent it off to taurus and they promptly ( two weeks) fixed the issue for "free". I had to pay the 20 some odd dollars to send it there. After that it works like new again. So far I have done over 3000 rounds in just under a year, with no jams or other suck mishaps. Good gun, fun to shoot, do yourself a favor and just buy it.

When I got home today with my new 9mm Taurus 1911, I was extremely happy with my purchase. This is a super quality weapon and is under $500, but that's what I've come to expect from Taurus...after all their warranty speaks for itself! , I put 20 rounds each of Monarch (115 gr steel), Blazer (124 gr brass) and the Fiocchi 115 grbrass. I had absolutely no problems at all. All cartridges were accurate and clean, gun action was smooth and really not much kick, as it weighs over 40 oz loaded...heavy for me, but solid and comfortable in the hand...I don't shoot much with handguns, so I need some practice. This is a well made gun that is solid with good grips and frame knurling in just the right areas. Taurus cut NO corners on this gun. Really a top quality piece for under $500. I HIGHLY recommend it.

My 6th gun from Bud's. I got it in 8 days. The PT1911 in 9mm is fantastic for the price. I have about 200 rounds of my reloads through it so far and no problems whatsoever. It has all the features I wanted, save for a fiber optic front sight and adjustable rear. Novak is the only real option for quality aftermarket sights, as Taurus has a proprietary size dovetail cut. Mine shoots 3" high at 10 yards, but adjustable sights will fix that. I had to drift my rear sight to get it lined up with POI. Take note: the set screw in the rear sight is filled almost to the top with hardened cosmoline- you will think you have stripped the set screw, but really you just need to pick out the cosmoline so you can get the allen wrench in deeper. I intend to use this for USPSA singlestack division and I expect it to work just fine for me.

Purchased the 9MM Taurus 1911 back in June. I have fired 1,000 rounds thru it with no problems. The accuracy is very good and the trigger pull is a smooth 5 lbs. The Stainless steel finish is good but did find some rough edges around the magazine feed end. Based on the price and compared to other 9MM 1911's this purchased was well worth the investment. My mags from my Springfield also work fine with this Taurus pistol.

What an awful gun indeed. The springs are all deformed (trashy quality), multiple issues with the magazines (FTF and doesn't locks the slide after the last round), bent sear spring assembly and more... I've already invested about $75 in new parts and this is still not up to snuff. I would NOT bet my life on this trash!

The 1911 9mm that I received is perfect , fit and finish excellent no scratch marks every thing fits perfect grips steel and more. One of the best handguns that I have purchased, shot a little over 4 hundred rounds so far a lot of different types hollow points full metal jacket and had only 2 F.T.E. and those were both with cheap steel cased ammo accuracy excellent. There are two points were mag well is, that is some what sharp ran my hand over these points multiple time and even thow I can feel the edge that is all, does not cut hand in any way and when the magazines are inserted you do not notice this at all and it makes a perfect fit with after market mags a very smooth fit. So if you have been thinking about buying one of these fine handguns but have hesitated because of reviews , don't Just buy it , I Love 9mm "s and 1911 pistols and for the price this is the perfect gun equal to any $1,000.00 gun that is out there buy it and enjoy.

Fast shipping indeed! I ordered this gun and received it before Bud's even sent me the email that it shipped! I haven't had an opportunity to shoot the gun but I was impressed with the plastic case and two mags that came with it. As others have said there were some very sharp edges along the bottom of the grip frame that I removed carefully with a dremel tool. It feels really good in the hand and feels nice and tight. Excellent service from my FFL Parker Gun and Game in republic, MO.

For those of us that view 1911's as an unhealthy addition, this gun presents an almost irresistible curiosity. Having recently paid close to $200 to have 30LPI front strap checkering hand-cut on one of my Kimbers, the thought of a whole stainless 1911 for right around $500 delivered (including FFL transfer fee) got the best of me (I ordered the gun on Monday from Buds and it was at my FFL by Thursday). Over the decades, I have purchased almost every 1911 tool and jig that Brownell's sells, and have probably spent more $$ (from a minimum-wage/time perspective) tuning and futzing with my 1911's than I've actually paid for them. After doing the math, when you consider the time component of getting a typical 1911 just right, the "cheapest" 1911 on the market by far is a Les Baer. Having said that, lets turn to the Taurus 1911 9mm. The (rear lug) barrel fit was excellent, and the bushing fit was on par with what I've seen in my Kimbers (no wrench required for removal). The slide-to-frame fit on my gun was solidly between "Kimber" (OK) and "Colt" (loose). In other words, it was also "fine" (closer to Kimber than Colt). The milling on the interior of the slide contained what looked to be some non-standard cuts, but the gun cycled fine and the action seemed to run free and clear. The trigger was clean, but heavy (probably in the _6lbs range). After cutting down the hammer hooks, polishing the sear and disconnector, swapping-out the mainspring and sear spring, and removing the firing pin block and replacing the stock firing pin with a titanium pin and extra-power spring (and smoothing a slightly over-sized firing pin stop plate that was binding on the hammer just a tad), the trigger dropped-down to a clean 3.5lb pull and I was ready for the range (after cleaning and lubing everything). 500 rounds later the gun has run like a top (zero malfunctions of any kind-- including when the gun is loaded to IDPA/SSP division capacity using Wilson 10rnd mags). It is more accurate than I am (quarter sized five shot groups at 21 ft), and all-in-all the gun represents some of the best money I've ever spent on a 1911. As a stock gun, I'm sure that it would be fine for most people, but if you're looking for a relatively inexpensive alternative that can be easily tuned to taste (my additions took a few hours and added about $100 in parts- including a Pachmayr neoprene-coated arched mainspring housing), this gun is really a remarkable value. On the down side, from an aesthetic perspective, Taurus's habit of painting "advertising billboards" on the sides of their slides bears mentioning. I can only surmise that the "advertising" value allows them to offset the price of the their guns in a manner similar to those folks that drive around cars that have been painted to serve as driving advertisements.

Time for some thoughts after the first 200 rounds. This is a full featured 1911 and has a great price, lot of gun for the money. This is my first 9mm 1911 and my first Taurus. I have 3 1911 45acp. (STI, Ed Brown and Tisas). Fit was much better than I expected based on other reviews and mine was tight and smooth. Finish was a little disappointing, the finish just seems to have dirt or color variation that was unusual, but I didn't buy it to look at, so not a big deal for me. The gun functioned with zero problems for the first 200 rounds. I have felt better triggers, but I actually really liked how it functioned. Just seemed to work with my shooting style. Accuracy was very good, Overall impression is the gun is a great value and fun to shoot. I have not tested any aftermarket mags yet but have some coming so I will update. This is not a $1500 gun but it will play with the $1000 ones. I will update with aftermarket mags and see how it holds up under more use.
