Rough Rider ... the very image conjured up is of the rugged men led by Theodore Roosevelt up Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill over 100 years ago during our war with Spain. That same image of ruggedness might also be applied to the newest Big Bore Rough Rider revolver from Heritage. Almost the "spitting image" of the Single Action Army still be carried by some troops during the Spanish-American War, this latest six-shooter comes chambered for the legendary .45 Colt cartridge, .44-40 and .357 Magnum. This fine handgun can be had in the traditional 4.75", 5.5" and 7.5" barrel lengths, just like the original. Blue, nickel, stainless and blue/color-case hardened finishes are available and each gun is fitted with attractive one-piece cocobolo grips. The action features a frame mounted inertia firing pin and transfer bar for added protection. Old World gun maker Pietta of Italy start certain parts for us. They are a family run operation, just like Heritage Manufacturing. Then those certain parts are finished by Heritage, then plated and then fully assembled by us in the good old US.

Perfect for the exciting sport of western action shooting, the Big Bore Rough Rider embodies the flavor of the Old West and will also serve anyone who wants an accurate and reliable sidearm for other outdoor activities. As with all of the Heritage handgun line, this new six-gun offers both quality and affordability...an American Tradition!

I love this pistol but have trouble buying ammo, so I don’t shoot it very often. I highly recommend this gun to anyone looking for a big bore single action long colt! You will Love it too.

My gun came pretty quick (as usual from Bud's) and I'm quite happy with it. Looks to be a solid, well built, nice looking gun. At about 25 yards, it puts 6 rounds into a real nice group with my loads. It shoots a little low, but a little file work will fix that. The only thing I would suggest is that they make the trigger guard a little bigger. Other than that, it's a nice, fun gun.

I purchased this item several months ago. It arrived in a standard Heritage Arms cardboard box with the standard manuals and booklets that come with most Heritage Arms firearms. The pistol was manufactured for Heritage Arms by Pietta in Italy. They have been producing high quality reproduction firearms for several years and at this time I own at least three Pitta manufactured firearms. All of them are very nicely built and this revolver is no exception. Because this is patterned off of the original Colts, the frame is a bit smaller than my Ruger Vaquero. My fingers are fat and the trigger guard feels a bit tight. The trigger pull is positive. Cocking the hammer is a crisp two click action. There is no hammer safety on this model and there is no stupid cylinder release when you open the loading gate. Disassembly and reassembly are clean. There is no excessive play in any moving parts. The finish has a bit of a light wire brush appearance on the frame flats. The bluing is deep blue every where except for the blade sight on the barrel. It appears to be thin and looks almost hand blued. The fits are excellent and the general construction is excellent. The walnut grip is very nicely done both fit and finish. I have run a couple hundred rounds through this particular gun. As with most pistols with fixed sights, you mentally adjust your aim, but this is within acceptable ranges. The gun looks good, shoots good and it is very affordable.

Inexpensive SAA copy. If you can't afford a better copy, like from Cimarron or Taylors (Uberti, Pietta, Pedersoli, etc.) or a Ruger New Vaquero, and you really want a "cowboy gun," this one will do.

I never used to be a fan of western style single action pistols, but after my granddaughter picked out one at a local gum store and I tried it out, i became a fan of heritage manufacturing rough rider pistols. My granddaughter now owns two .22 lr w/a secondary magnum barrel included. I have two each of the 357/38 rough rider pistols and the 45 long colt pistols. The 45 l/c is comfortable and very reliable. Although not what I would use as a carry gun, this pistol is a lot of fun to shoot on the range and a great back up carry if you hunt. Just be aware of its power. It's not a pistol for anyone that doesn't like the feel of solid but controllable recoil. But if like me you enjoy a pistol that you can feel the strength of when you shoot, this is the pistol that'll do it for you

I am a huge fan of the classic six gun and bought this one to carry where I work, I like the feel and looks of this pistol but after shooting it only a dozen times the cylinder locked up on it, I sent it back to heritage and the repaired it and sent it back free I fired it a few more times then the hammer jammed all the way into full cock so I had to pull the pin to drop out the cylinder to unload it again I sent it back and when I told them I would never by another heritage they acted like they could care less this is my first and last one I will buy from this company I will never trust anything with the name heritage on it.

I've ordered several guns from Buds and have always received great service as with this purchase. The pistol is everything, I expected and at a great price. I will continue ordering from Buds.
