Good fun gun- no recoil with full 357magnum 158 grain. wood looks good (not fancy but nice). functions with no problems and blue finish is black with a blue tint. Accuracy was ok it shoots high even when adjusted to lowest setting but windage was straight on. This is a gun truck gun or one to use for tramping around the swamps. Buds was fast ordered on Sunday and received on Thursday.

This was my first order through Bud's and has been my best firearm purchasing experience yet. It was 3-workdays between the moment I hit 'purchase' and the moment I picked up the Ranch Hand from my local FFL dealer. The gun itself is amazing. I didn't grow up with westerns and am generally more partial to cyberpunk, but the lever-action is just too freaking cool and really fun to shoot. Another great feature is it's legally a pistol; I'm able to use it at any indoor pistol range and carry it under the same guidelines as the rest of my CCWs... though it's way to big for a person of my size to actually conceal carry .

I spent a few days deliberation between 38sp/357mag or 44mag. After taking this version to the range, I'm glad I picked the smaller caliber. It has no shortage of power with a hot 357 round and the recoil is exactly right for a pleasurable target shooting experience. The recoil with 38 special is almost nothing, and the cheaper ammo lets me plink for a while.

I read some reviews elsewhere that folks had trouble with 357mag rounds refusing to feed; I had no problems with any of variation of 38 special or 357 mag. Where the wood edges meet metal is a little rough, but the wood finish itself is nice.

The only issues I've noticed so far are:
1) Even with the rear sight in the lowest position possible, it shoots pretty high -- If I actually start to care about where my bullets go, I'll have someone take a look at that.
2) The safety toggle feels cheap and wobbly -- I never thought I'd say this about a safety... but this particular gun would be better without it. I usually just leave it set to fire.
3) The loading gate is a little fickle -- If you don't get a round in all the way with your finger, or the lever isn't all the way seated, it can be hard to cycle or top-off. This is somewhat expected.
4) Rossi's web site is ambiguous about their warranties -- I believe this is covered for 1-year, but it could be lifetime... it's just that ambiguous!
