Returning to regular production late summer 2014, the 715 is as it was before designed and built to be the most accurate, rugged and versatile revolver on the market. Shipped with a 6 barrel, the new shroud is designated the HV6, a heavy vent shroud profile that tames the .357 s recoil very well. The double action trigger is short and relatively light, while the single action is light and crisp. The target-like SA trigger pull made the Dan Wesson revolver a favorite among competitors and hunters, and the tradition continues in the 715. Barrel assemblies and grips are easily swapped by the shooter, and the 715 accepts grips and barrel/shroud assemblies from 15-2 model and newer revolvers. The original Dan Wesson revolver improved on the accuracy and service life of the traditional double action revolver design in a few ways. The tensioned barrel of the DW interchangeable barrel system enhances accuracy, pulling the barrel tight like a guitar string, enabling it to vibrate at the same frequency every time. The forward crane latch, located in front of the cylinder and paired with a rear ball detent helps to ensure proper cylinder/barrel alignment during firing. Superior to the rear locking designs of other revolvers, it adds to the accuracy of the 715. While the tensioned barrel definitely improves accuracy above other revolvers, it s the consistent cylinder/barrel alignment that contributes most to the accuracy of the design. Next to the new Python this is the ultimate 357 Magnum revolver. Way better than the S&W offerings. The interchangeable barrels are a huge feature.

Excellent revolver! I put 250 rounds down range today with no problems. Excellent trigger. Very accurate firearm. A+

Great fit and finish. Only problem I have seen is sometimes casings do not eject freely. The gun is accurate as hell. Not sure if it’s just the nature of having a 6’’ barrel. Trigger feels awesome, not as great as a performance center Smith, but great nonetheless. Wish DW would re-release their 44 magnum.

This is by far the finest revolver currently made in the US. The fit and finish is exquisite and the trigger is very nice. It is far and away better than anything S&W is making currently and it competes with Ruger in durability. My father's Colt Python is the revolver I've found that beats it in anything. The Dan Wesson doesn't have the ball-bearing double action trigger feel like the Python, but it's still very good and far better than Rugers or new Smiths. The single action is very close to the Python which has had work done to it so it might not be a fair comparison, but either way it competes with the best and beats most of the competition. The heavy frame and barrel shroud soak up the recoil and make hot .357 feel like .38 special, and make .38 special feel like a .22. This gun is more accurate than I thought was possible. I can make all six touch at 50 feet shooting off-hand (something I can't do with anything else I own or even with my dad's Python). The only downside of this revolver is that other barrels and grips are so hard to find since they have been out of production for so long, but honestly that's a minor nit-pick since the 6 inch barrel is so versatile and the rubber grips are so comfortable. If they ever bring back the large frame version in .44 mag I will be first in line with money in my hand. Yes it's more than twice the price of a GP100, but it's far more than twice the gun. Yes it's beefy and more aggressive looking than most Smiths, but it's more durable, has a nicer trigger, and better fit and finish (and no Hillary Hole). Dan Wesson, a proud tradition in firearms.

Wow! This is my new favorite. I went to the range the day after i picked this up. First six shots were the tightest group in bulls I have ever shot in twenty years next to a Smith .22 target. No Joke. I was Shocked. The double action is very nice and lock up is very tight. Yes it is expensive but I wanted I super nice, accurate range gun. This is it. I love Dan Wesson pistols. I have a Valor 1911 and this is just as nice in quality and workmanship. Everyone at my range wanted to check it out. No regrets.
