I would like to thank all the purchasers of this pistol that previously left reviews. Your shared insight and information and experiences were invaluable in helping this city slicker choose this American Tactical FX 9. One particular review which was an immense help suggested oiling the pistol and working the chamber 1000 times. My biggest concern regarding this purchase was buying this pistol and it not feeding or jamming etc. and this advice helped me go ahead and make my purchase.
Shout out to Buds Gun Shop. They are professional and efficient and the layaway removes any lingering excuses to not make a purchase. After pulling the trigger (pun intended) and making my purchase, the pistol was delivered fast and in new condition. Thank you Buds. The pistol weighs approximately 3lbs and is SOLID. If you shake the gun their is no rattling and none of the parts have any play. The grips are a pretty and look great. The gun is sexxxy. I used the oil that came with the pistol to lube the rails, the barrel and the other parts I can't name (remember, i'm a city boy). I worked the chamber repeatedly, practiced engaging and unengaging the lock, practiced aiming using the sights (which I have no problem with).
Well, Friday May 15th I went to the range with a sheriff friend of mine. Yep, I was nervous but I was hopeful and confident my pistol would perform (I'm a romantic). I used 124 grain magtech ammo. I used the magazine provided and had absolutely no problems. Let me tell you this pistol performs! Smooth trigger pull, minimal kick, accurate sights, solid presence and a nice deep BOOM from the barrel. I managed to hit multiple groupings from 50 yards (???) and even had a bullseye grouping, which made my law enforcement/shooting partner jealous!!!
All in all I HIGHLY recommend this pistol and I highly recommend Buds Gun Shop. I am going to purchase another ATI and swap out some parts for a more pleasing aesthetic. My advice, as recommended by a more experienced person than myself, is that you use the INCLUDED GUN OIL to lube your peace maker and repeatedly work the parts to break in this fine pistol.

I really like this Commander size 9mm, it feels great in the hand and looks nice. However I have had problems with FTF, FTE, FRB, etc. Tried many types of ammo, ball and otherwise, and different mags, no joy. Got a local smith to do a reliability job ($150), feeds ball pretty good now but still chokes on HP. Got an Item Return # from ATI and am sending it back for work, should have done that in the first place.
Will try to update this when I get it back.

I purchased this 9mm Commander-sized ATI [Shooter's Arms Manufacturing] because I already own the .45ACP GI version and have been so impressed with the quality of these SAM pistols. Just like my .45ACP GI, the 9mm has a supurb slide to frame fit and a great trigger right out of the box. I did experience some feeding issues with my 9mm which ATI in Summerville, SC took care of for me in 1-week's time (from AZ to SC and back that quickly)! Turned out that the extractor needed a little attention and it runs great now. I highly recommend Bud's Gun Shop for their great firearms selection and service and I highly recommend the SAM 1911-style pistols imported by ATI for their quality, low price (yes, these can co-exist) and ATI's great warranty service.

This is my first purchase from buds gun shop. And I will say I’m very pleased with the service I receive and the timely shipping. Great place to buy a gun or Accessories. Now to the ATI 9mm commander. I must say for a lower price point 1911 9mm commander I’m very pleased with the gun. It seems to be a very good fit and finish. Wasn’t completely covered in thick grease when I received it. Came in a cheaper plastic carry case but a nice one. Only one magazine but seem to be a really well made one. After getting it picked up from my local FFL dealer I got it home and complete disassembled it for its first clean. Got it all cleaned lube and put back together. I took 5 magazines out to the farm I shoot at. 3 with 115gr RN Winchester white box and 2 with 147gr HP Winchester white box. Had absolutely no problems feeding or ejecting with any of them gun ran flawlessly. Very happy with the pistol. I have not tried for accuracy yet as I was just shooting up an old paint can. But I’m sure it we’ll be good.

I bought this through BUD'S lay-a-way plan (a great experience). The pistol looks very good; after cleaning and oiling it was time to shoot. That went not so good. There were many FTE's (failure to extract). After removing the extractor it was obvious that there was no "tension" incorporated into it. After adjusting ("increasing) the tension, it works great! The weight of an all steel pistol with the 9MM round equals a LOT of fun. The accuracy is good and it has a decent trigger pull. For the money, I'm more than pleased. And I have to add, most of these probably DON'T have problems with the extractor; I read a lot of reviews online and pretty much all of them were positive. I just happened to get the rare one that needed a little adjustment.

The fit and finish on this is very nice. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but so far based on appearances, I am very satisfied. I would have given it five stars but have not shot it yet. I would recommend.

Just got this gun in and I’m in love! Took it to the range and put 150 rounds through it with no issues! I loved how tight of groupings I could put on paper at 25 yards! Definitely proud I made this purchase!

Bought this pistol for a carry gun and have cycled a few hundred rounds through it! The gun has fed well and is fairly accurate and I have had lots of compliments on the look of it. It's a nice pistol for a nice price. I am very happy with my purchase from Buds and will shop with them In the future!

ATI FX9 Commander: First time order with Bud's-Exceptional service & notifications, every step of the way--OUTSTANDING! For years, I've been curious about the 1911 platform, but wanted to stay with the 9mm, and not break the bank. ATI offered the Commander in 9, in the "Plain-Jane" version, with a very nice finish, and, with much better stock GI sights. Looked ate Metro Arms, Rock Island, & others, but the quality of finish & features of the ATI spoke to me. Fresh out of the box, this pistol was tight! No machine marks, and the finish was matte, consistent and beautiful for a GI version! After a thorough bath in Ballistol, and liberal lubrication with Weapon-Shield on the rails, I racked the stiff slide 5-600 times while watching the game, and she loosened up to a nice, crisp feel. Drifted the rear sight a little to the right to hit POA-POI, and 300 rounds later, I drilled the 5" centers out of three paper plates! Had a couple of hitches with Failure to load, but attribute that to break-in, and a stiff magazine. No problems now. Measured the trigger with a Lyman gage, and came up with a nice crisp 4-4.1#---sweet. Happy to be a member of the 1911 tribe now, and am enlightened as to the beauty of the 1911 platform. ATI is a great product to get on board with---plenty of quality without breaking the bank! Be advised, these pistols are tight out of the box, and will need a loosening up; A good bath, Plenty of good lube and some pre-range exercise with suffice. Thanks ATI for some beautiful "Plain-Jane" 1911's, and thanks to Bud's for great service & excellent prices! Cruising around the woods with this FX9 in a leather holster just feels like that favorite pair of well-worn jeans--comfortable. If you're on the fence about a 9mm 1911, and don't make "Kimber wages", get off the fence and get this ATI.........you'll thank yourself....I sure am glad I did!!!
