Fit and finish is really nice. Grips arent the best so I replaced with some Hogue grips. Fits well in the hand and handles the .45 pretty well.

I ordered on Sunday morning and it arrived Wednesday morning, great shipping experience, a Buds' hallmark!

I had always wanted a G.I. 1911,even before carrying one in the Infantry(among other weapons.of course!) As for many of us, life gets in the way. Family always comes first and gladly so. Time flies and in the blink of an eye I'm not in my twenties but fifties and finances aren't quite as tight. I can't express how thrilled I was to get a R.I.A. G.I. 1911 from my family for my birthday!

It's like seeing an old friend after decades have passed. This gun performs beyond my expectations despite all of the positive reviews I have read. I have been an avid shooter my whole life and I shoot and reload frequently. At the DNR range I frequent your only allowed 6 rounds max in the magazine. I started at 25 yards. I didn't see the first two shots. When I checked they were 9" high and 2" right from aiming center bull. I aimed 9" low for the next four and they made a group just under 1.25" 2 inches to the right from center bull! Then I went to 50 yards and it shot several 6 to 8 inch groups 4 or so inches to right of center! This was offhand with a two hand hold, snowing and blowing and 18 degrees outside! Very reminiscent of some of my qualification days in the Army.

There were no malfunctions. The finish is blemish free. The trigger pull was a pleasant surprise as it is definitely on the lighter side with a barely discernible touch of creep. Absolutely nothing like the "8 lbs and gritty" or something along those lines I have read in some reviews.

As good as this thing is right off the bat I can only imagine how good it will perform as I will be practicing with it A LOT! I have no reservations of having this be my carry gun.

To sum it up I would wholly recommend this gun to anybody and not just to folks on a tight budget like me. God Bless and a happy upcoming Easter to all!

I was referred to Bud's by a colleague at work, and I have to say, I was pleased with the ease of use of the website, and the delivery was what I expected. My local FFL made it easy on this end as well. Even spotted me a box of shiny new rounds.

I am proud to say I am now among the ranks of owning a classic model of firearm, and from the outset, I'm super excited for the opportunity to put 'er to use!

Thank you, Bud's - I have no doubt I'll refer and use you again and again.

Great first timer. I put 200 rounds of winchester white ball ammo down range... It performed flawlessly! Its very accurate at 30 yards. And the price is great too. I'd like to personally thank buds for a smooth transaction/delivery. I cant wait to buy another.

Just a few comments for anyone (like me) unfamiliar with RIA products and considering giving it a shot. I had previously tested the compact officers model and wanted to see how the government model faired. It did great over 850 rounds with 100% feed and fire; two FTE at #640 and #690 - far better than my Springfield Jam Master. Factory mag was used throughout. Unlike the compact, I only tried Winchester bulk 230 grain FMJ on this outing.

Accuracy. Three-shot groups usually around 2" @ 20 yds; long strings 4"; a fifty-round group inside a 4x4 or 6x6 inch square. I beat the paint off a chest size steel plate at 30 yds once the kentucky windage got worked out.

The trigger is great, safety positive on/off. Finish okay with some stamp-sized blemish on the top of the slide. This may "age" out as the parkerized gets worn, or duracoated one day. Didn't bother me, I'm looking for excellent reliability then reasonable accuracy at a value price point. I like the wood grips. They look okay and feel great to me. I prefer the normal grip safety. The compact beavertail lets the rear of the safety cut into my hand. Not a problem at all with the regular config as the grip position a little lower.

The local 400# range commando said my sites were bad. He had the night/tritium/thermal/red dot/laser/ESP commando sights just like they shot Bin Laden with. I still outshot him, so did everyone else. Don't discount the GI sights, they work well, are unbreakable, we managed to win a couple major world wars with them. They also keep the overall price of the gun reasonable.

The factory mag seems nice and worked 100% 850 times in a row. All shooting was done starting with a full load of eight rounds to test the spring and overall function.

Overall superior to the Springfield Armory experience and would probably be a good deal at $800. I think it's a fantastic deal at $415. I'm not a collector, I don't see guns as a work of art. This will go camping, hiking and hunting and get beat up. It proved very reliable with decent accuracy, a great price point - let's call it five stars.
