I really love this pistol for the obvious traits of it's small size and light weight. It shoots quite well for such a powerful cartridge in such a light weight gun. My only concern about the pistol is that the slide finish was not very long lasting and I recently sent the slide off for refinishing.

This model and all other variants in the Diamondback DB9 series suffer from poorly designed magazines. The magazine followers will occasionally pop out through the feed lips of the magazine. The magazine springs are small and quite weak. Your DB9 may shoot great at the range one week so you load up a magazine and carry the gun for a month or two then go back to the range and experience feeding problems with the same ammo that shot fine two months ago. This happened to me recently and also happened a few months ago with my first magazine that came with the gun. I'm not willing to buy new magazines for this pistol every month. Diamondback need to address this issue as the magazine is the heart of this pistol.

The only ammunition I've found that is reliable with new and broken in magazines is Rem/UMC 115 grain HP, so I'm stuck using this one specific round with my DB9.

I had my eye on this gun for awhile but was scared to purchase a new model from a new company. Finally broke down and bought one. Fired 75 rounds today of various fmj from blazer, winchester, and federal, as well as some remington hp's. Happy to report not a single malfunction. Accuracy was good at seven yards. Recoil was stout but much more comfortable than my kel-tec p-3AT. Diamondback has a winner here. It just became my new carry gun.

I was contacted by the Sales Manager at Diamondback Firearms and he is going to pay to have the gun returned for repair. I can't at this moment attest to its reliability, but will post another updated review once I receive the gun back and test its function. Regardless of what you buy though, you can't beat the customer service and prices here at Buds.

I am very unsatisfied with Diamondback. When I got my DB9, it had trigger reset failures at least once (if not two or three times) with each 6 round magazine fired. I tried three different brands of ammo with the same results. However, that isn't what has turned me off to Diamondback. It is a first gen gun and I knew that going into it. BUT, when DB refused to pay have the gun shipped back for warranty repair, leaving me with a $56.00 bill for overnight shipping, that put an end to my ever dealing with the company again. I have owned, or currently own, many different brands of firearms. I have sent back a PF9 for upgrades, a Taurus PT140 and a LCP back for warranty work. ALL of them covered the cost of return shipping. Ruger even sent me a pre-paid addressed box to ship my LCP back in. And the Kel-Tec wasn't even technically broken, it just needed all of the upgrades.

I will be ditching my DB9 once I get it repaired and move on to the LC9. My advice to others would be to consider doing the same.

This is an outstanding new addition to the pocket 9 market. I've really enjoyed breaking this one in. Be aware that this is a brand new model so it's not totally free of issues yet, but the manufacturer has been great about resolving issues quickly. My specific pistol was one of the first shipped and there was an issue with the magazine followers in the initial shipments. Diamondback had new followers produced and a replacement in my hands in a week. Problem was resolved and it's been issue free ever since. I really like this little micro 9mm.
