This is the enhanced version of the R1 by Remington It is 45 ACP with a 5" steel Match grade barrel with a Target Crown. It has a carbon steel slide with bead-blasted Ionbond finish and mirror finished sides. The sights are dovetail 2-dot rear and fiber optic front. The R1 Enhanced has a adjustable machined skeltonized anodized aluminum match trigger and a beavertail grip safety with checkered memory bump and a wide extended thumb safety. It also features Pearl grips, lowered and flared ejection port and enhanced hammer. Two 8 round magazines are included.

Gave it four stars because the photo of the gun on here and what you actually get are two different things slightly. The side of the slide in the picture appear to be a stainless finish. But it's actually a darker blued glossy finish. Still looks pretty good, but was a little disappointed. Would have rather just got the all black Enhanced R1. As for the range report, I shot almost 200 rounds and had 4 failure to feeds. I don't believe it was the gun itself, I think it was one of the 8 round Remington mags. The reason why is cause the gun fired flawlessly with my buddy's 1911 mags...one of them being a Wilson Combat, and the others being cheap 7 round surplus mags. Also, after getting home and cleaning the gun, I noticed a very slight area on the slide serations where the finish was coming off. Called Remington the next day, and gave me the option to have the gun refinished at anytime, and sent me 2 more magazines free of charge. I don't even have to send back the old ones. Remington's customer service seems to be top notch thus far. Overall, it's very accurate, tight fitted, well made 1911. No regrets except for the finish I was talking about.

I just received this gun yesterday and immediately put 350 of my own reloads through it. The gun and the magazines it came with performed flawlessly. Not to mention mention fact that the Pistol is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect fit and finish, superb craftsmanship, but most of all, very reliable. Reliability is THE most important factor for me. All my firearms are for carry. This one certainly fits that bill.
