I purchased these magazines to supplement my supply of metal magazines for my Belgian FN/FAL rifle. These magazines have the advantage of being available and of being priced reasonably. They are difficult to seat in my rifle with the bolt open or closed. These magazines are tight side to side and getting the front nub to hook into the magazine well so the magazine can be rocked back and locked into position is a hit and miss chore at best. If you could imagine Deputy Barney Fife loading a FAL rifle then you've got an idea of what the operation of inserting these magazines looks like. The alternative are scarce overpriced surplus metal magazines with more "patina" on them then I care to deal with so I am back to these being available and a suitable backup for saving wear and tear on your supply of metal magazines.

I'm not sure if this goes for all thermold brand mags, but the mags they made for the FAL are absolute garbage. I regretfully purchased 4 of these and not one would fit in my receiver. after heavily modifying them i got one to fit, and then it wouldn't even allow the bullet to be pushed out by my bolt! these mags are a horrible design and should not be sold.
