This product is awesome! It arrived fast.
The install was very easy for me. The rifle that this went on was a pawn shop purchase a few years ago and it was missing the rear sight. This made the install even easier because I did not have to punch the old sight out.
The dove tail block that goes inside the rear sight area was oversized. This ensured a tight and secure fit. Simply follow the directions by sanding off a small amount on the base and checking often for fit. Once the dice tail was in half way, I used a nylon punch and mallet to securely install it. It is very tight and has zero play (a very good thing).
The front sight install was bit more of a challenge because Marlin cut costs when it was built by only attaching the OEM sight with a single screw. I called XS sights about this because they recommended two screws. They informed me that 2 screws gives 4x the holding power of 1 screw.
I also asked about the color loctite to use. Their instructions had them use red loctite but they send blue instead. Either will work but the install is a lot more difficult to remove with red loctite. The blue is not as chemically resistant but it will work and it is a lot easier to remove. Lesson here is make sure you want the sight on the chosen rifle if you go with red loctite.
The process for zeroing was easy. The wind age and elevation is all adjust with the rear sight. Loosen a screw and tighten the opposite side if you want to adjust wind age. Loosen both screws a but and rotate the aperture up or down by rotating the whole thing and tighten the screws before rechecking.
I highly recommend you have the 2nd screw hole installed for the front sight if you happen to have a rifle like mine. I was quoted for $25 for the hole to be drilled and tapped. I opted for the $200 package that threaded the muzzle, included thread protectors, and install the new front sight with 2 screws.
This rifle is handy and balanced where you would naturally hold it. The XS sights are one of the best upgrades I had bought for a rifle.
