Great Rifle at a great price.
At first I was hesitant to buy this rifle because Core 15 is a fairly new brand and there isn't much information about them to be found. What little I did find, it was mostly positive.
This rifle is TIGHT! No slop whatsoever between the receivers. It's REALLY tight. When I received it, everything was oiled well and I could field strip it in less than a minute (including the bolt carrier) using just my hands (I am a mechanic so my hands are probably stronger than most peoples'). Cleaned it and relubed it, as a person should with ANY new firearm. Slapped it back together and everything just works smoothly. Although, it was clean and oiled so well that I could have probably just shot it straight out of the box.
Put an MBUS rear sight on it, and off to the range I went. Zeroed it in at 50 yards. 3 clicks right on the MBUS is it was dead nuts on. Ran 120 rounds thought it and everything functioned properly. No Failure to fire, feed, or eject; no issues whatsoever @ 35*F. Yes my hands were frozen by the time I was done.
Just got back and tore it down. It's not as dirty as I was expecting. Still came apart easily.
PRO's: Well made, really tight, accurate, quad rail, forged receivers, great anodizing, 4150 barrel, Carpenter bolt, nice crisp trigger (may be heavy for some but I thought it was just fine) oversized trigger guard (metal), beveled mag well, collapsible stock, sling mounts, all around a great rifle. LIFETIME WARRANTY!
Con's: The magazine that comes with it feels cheap and flimsy. It operated just fine though.
The first round I tried to rack got stuck in the chamber (had to use forward assist). Broke it down, removed round and inspected it. There was a noticeable flat spot and some gouges in the brass. Upon closer inspection of the feed ramps, there were a few burrs on them. Used a dental pick and scraped them right off (they came off easily), no further issues.
The burrs on the ramps may have just been a coincidence. I checked concentricity of the bullet and it definitely wasn't concentric. I'm not sure if it was just a bad round or if me smacking the forward assist bent it.
Other thoughts: Shoots great, looks good, and reliable. Just as good as any, more expensive, AR at a fraction of the price! Very happy with my investment.
