I'm a retired cop, and am familiar with handguns... recently I was invited to go hunting for white tail in North Carolina... I've never hunted before and did not know what rifle I should consider for this trip, Someone told me to consider a 270. I shopped around and came back to Buds and purchased this Weatherby package. (Rifle, scope, sling, case,) and yes I realize that some of you guys with big egos consider this to be the K-Mart version of a Weatherby. But I needed something to get me into this fairly inexpensively, and this was a complete package...It sighted in well and I was ready to hunt. On the first evening of the trip I dropped a doe at 300 yards - one shot and she dropped, I stayed in my blind and 15 minutes later a spike came trotting into the field, and I dropped him at 150 yards. I couldn't believe it. When the guide arrived and I saw his jaw on the ground I knew he was impressed. Later that trip the guide knik named me "Drop'm dead Mike" (followed by 'god-damned Yankee', under his breath!) - I lost that name when we were unable to track a 6 pointer, that i'm sure I mortally wounded...damn!
Thanks to Buds for another decent buying experience and to Carolina Woods and Water for a very cool , successful introduction to hunting. I've got more venison than I know what to do with, but I'll be back!
