Imagine a Hi-Point 995 carbine with hi-capacity magazines, proper fit and finish, and reliable magazine changes. If you do that you have the Beretta CX-4 Storm.

I can now say that I have owned both. I put 3,000 plus rounds through my Hi-Point. It never malfunctioned. It shot straight. It was a lot of fun. The problem is, that gun would never be anything more than a range gun to me. The fit of the magazines in the magazine well prevented confident magazine changes. I would never have trusted my life to the Hi-Point because you weren't really sure if the magazine was seated until you pulled the trigger.

I put 300 rounds through the CX-4 Storm today. There were no malfunctions. It shot straight. It was a lot of fun. It also had very positive magazine changes. I would trust my life to this firearm. It also has the added bonuses of easier takedown, better looks, and available hi-capacity magazines.

Is the CX-4 worth the extra $400 over a Hi-Point? If you just want a range gun it's not worth it. If you want a defensive carbine that works with Beretta hand gun magazines, then yes it's worth it.

Great weapon once you top it with a red dot (I have a Zeiss Compact Point) and replace the trigger.
Also some may find the stock a little short but Beretta has addon buffer pads available.
My only real complaint about the rifle was the trigger which seems to bother many (Google it).
It is not smooth and seemed to me to require inconsistent pressure and released inconsistently also.
With the Zeiss zeroed at 25yds _2" groups with 115gr ball and _10" groups at 100yds which was also the far end zero.
In sum: great gun but replace the trigger.

The gun is great, third and most likely last gun from Buds. Before I even got the gun the price drop $30.00, also description and detail specs don't match other vendors. Too much research to get basic info on other sites. Any other vendor would give you a credit if the price drops less than a week after you bought it. Bye Buds
