I got this just to see what I thought. Just after I got it they came out with the new stock and I called them and they sent me a new one. I have shot it many times and never had a problem. I find it a little heavy but if I take off the extra's that were added (light, laser, front grip etc.) it is not bad. Shoots a little high with the iron sights.

This is a great little shooter and economic home protection. I call it my "ugly gun" because let's be honest, it wont win any beauty contests! LOL! However, it eats all the ammo I put into it and it can put a half-dollar size hole in my target at 100 yards. I LOVE THIS GUN! Fun and cheap to shoot. I dont have the laser but have put on a basis scope. You wont be sorry you got this gun. And Bud's gets two thumbs up too...great service as always.

This is a great little shooter and economic home protection. If you buy this gun expecting it to perform like a match grade Colt AR then you are setting yourself up for disappointment. But if you want a sweet shooting mid range easy to operate carbine this is a lot of gun for the money. It fed and fired hollow points, wolf ammo, target winchester, and assorted old junk I had laying around. I had no FTF/FTE issues with this rifle. As for those who do not like the stock I say buy the ATI after market stock. For my part the ergonomics of the original stock works fine. I would rate the gun combat accurate but not same bullet in 1 ragged hole accurate. If I do my part I am going to get critical hits with a snap aim. It has smooth operation and low recoil. I have expressed my thanks to the manufacture for this fine defense carbine. I suggest this for anyone who needs home protection on a budget.

Have shot this gun at the range and it is a lot of fun. Get ready for a lot of ribbing from the AR, M-4 purists who refer to this model as a "monkey gun" due to it's similarity to the guns in Planet of the Apes movies. BTW, 9MM, 9MM Luger, 9MM Parabellum and 9MM 9x19 all refer to the NATO standard 9MM round. 9x18 Makarov is a different chambering. Similar confusion exists between .45 ACP and .45 GAP. If in doubt contact a knowledgable gunsmith before chambering, or more importantly, firing a single round.

All Hi-Point 9mm guns (pistols or rifles) shoot 9x19 or 9mm --Thank you Neil D and Tom P, you answers were very very helptul. I had purchased the 9 X 18 ammo before I received the pistol---The pistol that I have recieved does not indicate on it 9 X 19--it only indicates that it is a 9mm Luger. I just received the Carbine yesterday and did notice on the left side of the Carbine that it states 9mm X 19. Could not and did not try to fire the weapon since the ammunition jammed in the chamber_Handled weaons to long to know not to try and fire a weapon with jammed ammo==but once again thank you for your infromation. Now to purchase some 9mm x 19 ammountion and have fun with weapon and than write another review. Once, again many thanks.

All Hi-Point 9mm guns (pistols or rifles) shoot 9x19 or 9mm. 9x18 is a Russian round designed for their PPK knock off pistols. This gun clearly states on the side of it that it is chambered in 9x19. It is a simple fact that you cannot shoot another round in a precision machined weapon chambered for a specific length and width. I fed this gun so many different brands of 9x19 ammunition that it should be criminal. It NEVER had a failure. It is meant to shoot one caliber 9x19 9mm parabellum. It is like trying to shoot 22lr in a 25 acp gun. Your lucky that you didn't foul the gun or get hurt trying to fire a caliber other than that which is clearly stamped in the metal of the receiver cover.

All Hi-Point 9mm guns (pistols or rifles) shoot 9x19 or 9mm Luger. 9x18 or 9mm Makarov is an Eastern Europe, Soviet round. I have owned 2 Hi-Point carbines and 1 pistol. Loved the carbines; wasn't crazy about the pistol. 9mm Luger(9x19), 9mm Makarov(9x18), and 9x17 (usually called 380) are close in size; but not interchangeable.

Man this carbine is a KICK IN THE ASS to shoot-just got it 2 days ago and only have an indoor range available but shot 5 mags and it was flawless and a really good buy for a "fun" 9MM. The frenzy on guns has people around here trying to sell this puppy as a "compact ASSAULT rifle". All 10 or 15 rounds of it.:)Rating is based on PRICE!!!!!!!
