Great little rifle, wasn't sure i would like the synthetic stock but i fell in love with it, iron sights are ok but are not the best ive seen, I would recommend a scope but i does not need one, i purchased this rifle because: 1) i just got tired of my ruger 10/22 jamming and only holding 10 rounds at a time 2) is capable of firing .22 shorts, longs, and LR reliably and 3) to help train the next generation that bolt actions are not in any way obsolete. I would highly recommend this rifle to anyone, its cheap, reliable, and just plain fun to shoot...5 stars.

As usual, great price, great communications and fast delivery. Bud's has it wired.

About the rifle; I was looking for a bolt action with a tube magazine. This Marlin is almost perfect. Well made, nice blue finish, and shoots shorts, longs, and LRs. The only downside for me was the synthetic stock. I knew this one came with a synthetic and I know some folks prefer them, but I wanted a wood stock on this rifle. The good news is you can order an OEM Marlin stock from Numrich (1137290) that is made for a 783. It's an easy swap; a little work with a dremel and a couple of different screws and it will bolt right up. Looks great too. Ok, so now it is perfect.

GREAT RIFLE, cheap to buy, cheap to shoot, I own the 60C and this one. It's lignt to carry AND I love the sights. I sold my Ruger 10/22, JAM AFTER JAM...I use any 22LR ammo that's on SALE in this rifle AND in my 60C...KEEP YOUR RUGER...GIVE ME A MARLIN...
