I purchased one of these for my wife about a year ago from Bud's. The XL series are great bargain and my wife's got a a tack-driving rifle. Pet load is a one-holer at just over 2600fps with 139gr Hornady bullets. I shoot/hunt with the full-scale model in 30-06. I'd love anoter Marlin XL-7 in 22-250 just because this is America and I can! Buy an XS-7 (short action) or XL-7 in a long action caliber and you'll join many , many others that know the accuracy that you will experience with these affordable bolt actions rifles
The CONs: TheXL series Marlin rifles don't throw brass very far and it takes a good, smooth and full cycle of the bolt to clear a case or round from the action. The closed box magazine is another matter. It makes stuffing 4 rounds into it with a low-mounted scope a difficult task for someone with big hands, but how many shots do you really need? Buy one...be happy!.
