Nice rifle, the first four shots you can cover with a dime with cheap Russian ammo. This was only 50 yds but off a bag and a wobbley patio table. The rifle has a nice weight to it, it's solid doesn't feel cheap and light, or overly heavy like some varmint rifles. I really like it, if it shoots this good with the cheap stuff can only imagine what it will do with the good stuff. It also has a very nice trigger. I would recomend it to anyone who wants a quality rifle that won't break the bank.

After researching this website and others, I decided to buy the Venture 223 based on the reputation of Thompson and the recommendations of experienced friends. I picked up the rifle from my FFL today and discovered that the gun DOES NOT come with a scope. The specs on Bud's website are completely vague and misleading. Although under the picture there is a disclaimer "*Please Note!! Many of our pictures are stock photos provided to us by the manufacturer and do not necessarily represent the actual item being purchased. Please verify this picture accurately reflects the product described by the title and description on this page before you place your order", the web page does not say whether the gun came with a scope or not. On top of the gun not coming with a scope, there are NO SIGHTS on the gun either. So, until I can buy a scope and mount it, I cannot even shoot the gun. Buyer beware - if you are looking for a 223 with a scope, this is NOT the gun to buy. Be prepared to spend a couple hundred additional dollars for a scope...
