The rifle was a real disappointment. I've put about 40 rounds down this rifle, just finished breaking it in.
the XCR coating: It's already flaking off round the bolt head, it started flaking off on the bolt head and in the receiver where the bolt raceway is within the first 20 rounds. This is unacceptable garbage QA/QC. Every corner on this rifle, including the floor place is chipped, and I haven't even hunted with it yet. This is a major step back from the parkerized finish on the original LTR.
the stock: this stock looks great, but it's a textured stock so those cool little green paint splatters are going to be rubbed off in the field or on your hands. Some of mine already have. Again i expect MUCH more from an HS Precision, or a B&C. They also found the hardest cheapest butt pad they could find.
Because of the buttpad, this thing is horrible to shoot compared to my wife's cheap 700 SPS that came with a Limbsaver. You'd think on a top of the line 700, they could put a decent pad on it. My old LTR was a joy to shoot, this thing leaves bruises after a couple of shots.
Despite the photo, my rifle only has one front sling swivel.
The barrel on this is also not as good as I expected. It has a regular hunter crown, instead of a 60 degree target crown that came on the regular LTR.
Accuracy has yet to be determined, but at 100 yards the results are not encouraging. My LTR out of the box was shooting cloverleaf groups at 100 yards.
Overall this isn't worth the money. Buy a LTR, or a regular 700 SPS and put a good stock on it.
