For the money, this is an awesome rifle. first time out , .750 MOA with factory corelok 180 gr.. .600 MOA with my hunting handloads. I think this rifle would shoot .500 MOA with match bullets. I read up on this gun before I bought it and one thing that comes up is comparing this rifle too the 710/770. The 783 should be compared more to the 700 !!!!! the 783 has a great price point but it is not a "cheaply" made gun. it is a very well made and very robust rifle. The stock is amazingly ridged and stiff for a plastic stock. Yeah , its not my 1967 vintage 700ADL but for under $400 it's a steal. So if your in for a new deer rifle to beat around, BUY THIS!!!!!! You will not be disappointed. 1 to 10 its a 10.

Really like this rifle and surpassed my expectantions as far as accuracy and build. Mounted a Redfield hunter Revenge 4x12 Accuranger with Leupold Q/R rings on Weaver bases ( takes 2 front scope bases for Rem. 700 ). Sighted it in @ 25 yrds. With 4 or 5 shots and put 2 shots @ 100 yrds. 1.8 inches high to be zero @ 200 yrds ( per Redfield so the accuranger will work ) and used Hornady Whitetail 150 grn. JSP.
This turned out to be a deadly combonation. I was amazed at the accuracy and lock-up of this bolt gun. Remington really did a good job on this rifle, making up for the junk of the model 770. They won their reputation back with this one. If your looking for a economical priced rifle that is as accurate as the 700 and saving a few bucks in the process, this is it. I looked at the Ruger American rifle but glad I made the right decission with 783 in 30-06. The difference is obviouse between the 700 and 783 its just an economical version.
You wont regret your purchase, youll be as pleasently suprised as I.

For a budget rifle, this is great! It isn't the nicest stock in the world but for a gun under 400 bucks, you get a very accurate and reliable gun. It's lots of fun to shoot and is small and light enough to hunt with. I would definitley recommend this gun to someone who is starting out with bolt action guns. it comes ready to have a scope mounted. great bang for your buck!!

I did just as my dealer advised and shot fifty rounds through the gun while dry cleaning it after each shot. I then zeroed the gun in and shot another twenty rounds cleaning every four shots. Gun zeroed in and is holding a great pattern. I believe this will be one of the best guns I own. Love the action and trigger pull is smooth and crisp. Would recommend this gun!!!!!!
