Anschutz 1416 Heavy Barrel .22 Long Rifle Bolt Action Rifle - Blue/Black, 23" Barrel, 5+1 Rounds, Wood

I love this rifle. My primary concerns were whether or not I would like a 2 stage trigger and the 2-7 ounce light trigger. Admittedly the first 12 times I put my finger on the trigger it went off. But after a while I got the hang of it and the 1st stage creep is hardly noticeable. I do not like the magazine release especially after handling German ammo with wax coated bullets. Had to get new rings to mount my Mueller 4.5-14 40 mm scope the old ones were too wide for the 11 mm groves. Took it to the range yesterday 25, 50, and 100 yards. I shot better at the 100 yard distance than I ever have with any other .22 rifle. I tried 4 different German ammo. RSW-50, Ely Tenex, Lapua Midas, Lapua Center-x. Lucky me, my 1416 liked the Lapua Center-x the best that also happens to be the least expensive of the group. Now if I could figure out how to consistently remove the bolt all would be great forgetting the difficult to release magazine.

This is an excellent rifle. After bore sighting it took 3 shots to hit center at 50 yds. Out of the box (not broken in) using cheap ammo it shot 5 shot groups a quarter could cover. It's a little pricey compared to the more popular 10/22's. But you get what you pay for here. Hands down it's well worth the money. If you purchase you won't be disappointed. Note: The stock on mine looks nice but it's fairly straight grained walnut. In most of the pictures of Anschutz rifles the stock is more highly figured. My friend has one that's almost burlwood.

Anyone buying an Anschutz rifle from Buds, or from anywhere else, needs to be aware of the fact that Anschutz North America will not honor any warranty on a gun manufactured beyond two years past the manufacturer date regardless of when it was sold. The Anschutz warranty is two years from date of manufacturer, period. Prior to ordering my gun from Buds I called Anschutz North America and asked about their warranty here in North America to see if that was true here in the US. I was told that it was two years from the date you receive the gun and not to worry about the Anschutz (German) warranty that is two years from the date of manufacture. I was told to "buy with confidence as long as you keep your receipt". I received the gun last week and the first time I took it out to shoot it would not eject shells properly. A third of the time they went out to the right, a third of the time to the left, and the other third didn't eject at all, the empty just sat on top of the magazine. Some research showed that this was a fairly common problem with all Anschutz rimfire rifles and it has been a problem for many years. I emailed Anschutz North America warranty department and received a curt reply telling me to send it back to Buds and request a refund. Honest, that was their first suggestion. Further emails and conversations resulted in a final email telling me, "keep your bolt, we're not doing business with you". Honest, I'm not making this up. The service rep/manager, Steve, was verbally abusive and insulting about all of this. In fact, he was just plain nasty. He demanded to know who told me they'd honor the warranty for two years from receipt of the gun. He said he was going out and firing anyone who told me that. He said he didn't believe me. I told him it was the same person who told me Buds received the gun back in Oct. of 2017 and said not to worry about warranty. I actually didn't know their name, I never asked and didn't care what their name was. This Steve person called me back and told me the gun was five years old and Buds got it form another dealer so it was over the two year limit. I told Steve I didn't care where Buds got their guns, or what distribution channels they used, it was a new gun in the box and one of their reps told me I'd get a two year warranty if I bought the gun and kept the receipt. This Steve fellow even called me back with another insulting phone call and told me to get a pencil and paper, he was going to give me an address in Germany to call. He said maybe they cared but he didn't. Wow. What's Buds involvement in all of this? Buds called Anschutz and ordered an extractor kit for me and told me I should receive it in about a week. I don't know if this will fix the problem or not, and I'm not a gunsmith. I'd give Buds a 4star on this, but advise them to let their customers know that they probably won't get a warrant with a new Anschutz gun. There's no date on the box.

I like this rifle very much. It is accurate and easy to shoot. The function is flawless and the 50 yard groups are small. I will try it at 100 yards soon. I am using Norma Tac 22 ammo. I do not think that Anschutz ever made a bad rifle, I have owned several.
