I love this rifle. It is a perfect size and weight for the deer hunting I do and delivers a hell of a punch with tight groups. The finish on it is beautiful. I would recommend this rifle for anyone who hunts in areas with lots of brush mixed with open farmland.

I have always wanted a Ruger Gunsite rifle and I chose this one because I am a sucker for green laminate stocks. These rifles have sure come down in price since they were introduced. From what I read the green laminate model was a special run commissioned by AccuSport and offered through Davidson's at one time. The rifle is very compact and the quality is impeccable. The barrel is free floated. I could not find anything wrong with the rifle except I am not a fan of the metal magazine. I ordered a couple of the Ruger polymer mags for the rifle and they are much better fitting in the rifle, they function well and they look really good.....plus, they are about 20% shorter than the steel magazine that comes with the rifle. I am not a fan of Scout scopes and mounting so I used the supplied Ruger rings and put on a Leupold 1-4X with a HOG reticle in the standard position. The scope is small and trim and really makes the rifle look good and it is very fast on target. My rifle arrived totally void of any oil or grease. I lubed up the bolt and worked it a few times and, after the short break-in, the bolt worked smoothly. The rifle feels really good; it reminds me in size and feel kind of like the old British Jungle Carbine. I liked the rifle so well I put one of the .223/5.56 black laminate ones on layaway....that particular model is an absolute steal at Bud's price now.

The gun is great, the steel magazine that comes with it is not. I had heard a lot of negative comments about how hard the steel magazine was to load and bought a couple of poly mags at the same time as the gun. I used the poly mags first and loved it, the gun shoots awesome, looks beautiful. I was able to hit a 6" plate at 50 yards on my first shot out of the box with factory sighting. Amazing gun, but if I only had the steel magazine that came with it I would have been really disappointed. It does not load well, it does not sit well, it does not feed well, you keep having to adjust it so you don't end up jamming your bullets. I literally listed the steel magazine on ebay the day I got the gun. If this gun came with a poly mag from the factory I would have given it 5 stars.

First buds is awesome, took the gun to the range this week and at a 100yds was shooting 4 inch groups, and I was standing for me that's good
