So far I have only put about 200 rounds through this rifle but I'm very impressed with the accuracy. The stock has excellent checkering and is precisely fitted and the adjustable pull is a very nice feature. The description is off, the .30-06 magazine holds 4 rounds. The sights are easy to pick up and fast to use. Being a Ruger I did have to spend time polishing the receiver rails so they wouldn't scratch my brass and also had to spend time working to get some of the creep out of the trigger. Not at all unusual these days. In all this is an exceptionally good rifle.

Picked the Ruger M77 Hawkeye Guide Gun in 30’06. It’s 4+1 but can’t always get the 5th round to chamber. It’s probably user error and will become proficient, happens approx 1 out 3 attempts. Well balanced, Not too heavy. Iron sights are a necessity in my opinion and a big selling point. Matte stainless finish is nice but looks like it may come off after heavy use. It’s a solid build, bolt slides nice and smooth with no slip or play. Trigger is crisp, but have not measured and likely will not. Came with Matching scope rings, Muzzle Brake, thread protector and weighted thread protector to match brake while hunting. This is an Out of the Box, Ready to Go Woods rifle. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend.

I love this rifle!! It is very well balanced, handles perfectly for me, and is a joy to shoot! Although I plan on using this as a woods rifle, (it is .30-06), and will mount a low-power scope, I have fired 30 rounds with the open sights, and have no problems hitting center with these express sights. It is far more accurate than I will ever be! As for the fact that this rifle is no lightweight, I don't find the weight a problem, and that makes it even easier to shoot with the less recoil. I truly cannot think of anything I don't really love about my Guide Gun!

This is such a cool rifle. The laminate stock is dense and solid feeling; gives a great feeling of confidence. Action is smooth and reliable and I have had no problems at all with the function or accuracy of mine. The 20" barrel is handy in tight quarters without sacrificing a great deal of ballistic advantage. This iron express sights are very solid and a good thing to have as a backup on a back country hunting rifle. This rifle should provide several lifetimes of hard hunting. My only complaint is the matte finish Ruger applies to these rifles. It tends to hold moisture, especially from sweat, and if you don't keep an eye on it it will develop tiny rust spots. I think a smoother brushed finish would provide a little better corrosion resistance on the rifle. But that's only a minor complaint. This is a great feature packed rifle and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone needing an accurate, handy, weather resistant, rugged .30-06 bolt gun.

Very beautiful rifle! This baby is crisp. The only major issue I have with it is the weight. Its a bit heavy but I can get past that.
