Received this rifle from Buds the first week of December 2012. Was not going to review it but then I encountered a problem with the rifle. After firing several hundred rounds through it, some being steel cased ammo, the extractor broke. I called Ruger and they told me that they do not recommend firing steel case ammo because the coating on the ammo can stick to the inside of the breach and gunk it up causing the fired shells to stay stuck in the breach and end up breaking the extractor. This is what happened to my rifle. Ruger did get me a new extractor, spring, and plunger within a week at no charge which I installed myself(ps I'm not mechanically inclined, so anyone can do it). There is also a video on the internet that shows how to replace the extractor. After installing the parts from Ruger and thoroughly cleaning the rifle, especially inside the breach, it is working great once again. All in all I love this rifle. Actually prefer it ergonomically to an AR. Also contrary to some popular opinions and internet chatter I found the rifle to be very accurate. Have ordered a couple of spare OEM, ie Ruger, extractors, springs, and plungers from Brownells just in case. They are not expensive at all. All 3 pieces are less than $20. This rifle would get 5 stars except for the broken extractor and the fact that Ruger does not recommend using steel case ammo. Still I highly recommend it. It's very fun to shoot.

This is a great rifle - small, comfortable, nicely designed.... So far, no issues.
There are several possible obvious improvements of design, but nothing a big deal - except for sight.
It appeared to be fairly accurate - at least I can put bullets in 1'' group from 100 yards and I would assume that rifle can do better.
Now about sight. The native sight just does not work. All screws are getting loose each ~50 rounds. I wrote to Ruger they suggest to use Loctite - that is not an option - sight must be adjustable. How would you suppose to zero sight otherwise?
The correct solution is to buy Tech-Sight MINI2000 sight that is exactly what native sight should be in the first place.
Replacement takes couple of minutes and I would suggest doing it when taking the rifle out of the box.
This rifle with Tech-Sight would definitely get 5 stars. But I believe that sight should be installed by manufacturer - though 4 stars is fair.

Over the years I have had 4 Minis and have been extremely pleased with each. Not a needle threader but reliable and dependable. The only hicup I ever had was when using after market magazines. We all learn.
