Savage XP 338 WIN BUSHNELL - Blue/Black, 24" Barrel, 4+1 Rounds, Synthetic, Black Stock

The Savage 111 with the excellent, adjustable Accutrigger, is a great rifle, especially for the price. Unfortunately, the rifle arrived with the scope loose in the rings. It did not arrive bore sighted as advertised. I had to reset the scope and spend a bit more money than usual to get it sighted, since 338 win mag ammo is rather expensive. Although the Bushnell DOA 3x9 scope is adequate for hunting, a larger scope with 24x magnification or so would be better to take advantage of this rifle's incredible long range accuracy - which is hovering about 1 MOA /- depending on the loads I've used thus far. The butt pad does a great job of softening the "feared" recoil of the 338 win mag. I own rifles in 300 win mag, and 7mm rem mag, and shooting this rifle is not much different in recoil. Had the package arrived with scope fully attached and bore-sighted as advertised, I would have given 5 stars.

Savage 111DOA XP 338 WIN BUSHNELL from Buds. I'm not a fan of having to wait a week for the bank funds to clear before they shipped it (versus using a credit card, i guess) but since I wasn't in a hurry, no problem. The gun was exactly as described in new condition and I got an insane deal on it - not to mention a rebate from savage is on the way - wow! I could not have been more pleased with this purchase.
