Once again another flawless transaction from Buds and I thank them for that.
My new Stag Super Varminator has lived up to my expectations. After breaking in the barrel, I finally achieved .425 MOA. So I will say that the guarantee is true, under .5 MOA I did this using a bipod and no rear sand bag. I can only imagine that on sand bags the accuracy would could likely be .250 MOA.
I did note several factors; the barrel is very heat sensitive and the ammo plays an important role. After about 10 fast shots, when the barrel got hot, my groups increased. Also, it is ammo specific. My best groups were using Hornady 77 GR HPBT Match. I also had some hand loads that where worked up for a Stag Model 2, 50GR ZMAX with Varget and CCI Primers, this did well, .675 MOA, but not as good as the heavier bullet. The worst was the PMC Bronze 55Gr load, WAY over 1 MOA with those. I have not worked on any hand loads for this, but canâ%uFFFD%uFFFDt wait to get them tuned for the rifle.
I did have several FTF, but I found it was always the last round in the 10 round magazine that came with the gun. I used my other magazines and never had a problem again. I will call Stag and see if they can replace the Magazine.
This rifle is very heavy, which I like, and shoots with extreme precision out of the box. If youâ%uFFFD%uFFFDre looking for this type of AR-15, you canâ%uFFFD%uFFFDt go wrong with the Stag Model 6.
