As usual, Buds is on top of the buying and delivery. The M1-22 has worked good so far and is a very fun rifle to shoot. I read many reviews that the manufacture quality is below average - some is true. If Chiappa would have made some of the parts / materials better, this would be a great, reliable shooter. I wanted this model specifically because it is a very close copy of the original M1 carbine and in 22lr it's a blast to shoot. It is a little delicate with many of the parts being plastic. First 100 or so rounds were no problem, it ran well on Federal 40 grain (525 box). On my second range day, the bolt stopped coming forward. The pin that holds the firing pin was walking out and interfering with the bolt travel. I ordered a couple of new pins from Chiappa and installed. I read many reviews about poor customer service. While it was disassembled, I cleaned up some rough areas / flashing of the aluminum receiver. That is all good now and it is running well with a variety of ammo. Some other things to be aware of; use the charging handle stop and keep the action open when loading magazines, the front sight is a little tall but it shoots on target once you dial in the rear, the trigger has a heavy pull. Overall, I'm not sure I can make an strong recommendation to purchase. The price is not low enough to not consider some other choices that are much more reliable or this delicate. Time and a bunch more rounds will tell if it keeps working.

I am completing in love with this rifle. It is very accurate and very economical to shoot. It is an excellent replica of its 30-caliber big brother without the cost of the ammunition. I would highly recommend purchasing this gun.

This rifle is nice looking and resembles the original M1 carbine of the 40s. I got this for my grandson's birthday and he is thrilled with it and can't wait to get to the range. I do have some concerns that there isn't a feed ramp and think there my be some jamming to deal with but until we get to the range it's to early to tell.

Nice rifle, for what it is, but when I went to sale it the value wasn’t there. I feel like I overpaid.

This is one awesome semi-reproduction M1 Carbine rifle in the .22 cal. format. It shoots as good as any 10/22 Ruger and its more fun. Very accurate and easy to rapid fire all 10 rounds as quick as you can pull the trigger or slow single shots for bullseye hits. Either way its fun, plus its far less costly to shoot then an actual M1 Carbine. The rifle has an overall finish that is perfect. Feels great in the hands and looks awesome. I have shot CCI Sub-sonic (1050FPS) to CCI Blazers (1245 FPS) with out any issues. Everyone that has fired this M1 Carbine said they would buy one. If you do purchase this M1 you will not be disappointed, suggest you buy some extra magazines too. I have read some people have swapped out real M1 Carbine parts for the plastic ones on this rifle e.g. Rear sight, Front sight, Bayonet lug. I did, but you will need to do some modifications to the parts to make them fit, if you are not skilled in doing such work I would suggest you take it to a gunsmith, not worth ruining your rifle. Again its a great looking semi-reproduction M1 Carbine rifle ... and its loads of fun to shoot!

My FFL examined this firearm and said it is almost exactly like the .30 carbine WWII rifle. He is an armorer and a retired deputy sheriff and knows his weapons. I am really enjoying this firearm. It looks good and works good and the price is a gift to us gun owners.

This is a great little .22 to shoot. The look and the feel is very close to a real M1 Carbine. The wood in the stock has a wonderful grain pattern and very well finished. Everything fits and there are no gaps or misalignment's. I know practically everything is made of polymer, but it is well made and the sights work well. I like that the receiver has grooves to mount optics. There are two magazines with the M1-22. Both magazines worked flawlessly. I gave it a quick cleaning/lube and then shot 100 rounds of CCI Mini-Mags. I had one failure to feed. The M1-22 is fairly accurate. At 25 yds. with the iron (polymer) sights I got groups around 1". This is mainly attributed to my old eyes and glasses. I already have a Ruger 10/22 that I put a Brownells M1 kit on with Tech Sights. I think the Chiappa looks better and is more fun to shoot. To finish the M1-22 off, I put on an oiler/sling and an ammo pouch with two extra magazines that fit the pouch perfectly. This little rifle is well worth the price. My local Gun Shop had the same Carbine for $75.00 more. Buds service was great as usual. It only took two days for me to get the carbine delivered to my FFL. I have been purchasing guns from Buds for four years and have had only first rate service and great buying experiences. I highly recommend the Chiappa M1-22 and Buds Gun Shop to anyone interested in quality firearms at a great price with great service and quick delivery.

The Chiappa M1-22 turns out to be a very good buy! Before I ordered the M1-22, I did extensive research on the internet...YouTube videos and such. What I found was an overwhelming positive series of reviews backed up by videos. Out of the box this carbine is almost impossible to distinquish from an M1 .30 caliber carbine. The wood stock appears to be identical to mil-spc. The alloy receiver is well-finished, as is the alloy operating rod. The only overt give-away that this isn't an original .30 cal M1 is the use of plastic for the sights, trigger housing, magazine, barrel band/bayonet lug, and magazine release. However, these items are so well rendered they really do not detract at all from the look of the gun. Sure if one so chooses, original parts can be substituted, but the gun looks nice out of the box. Aside from the trigger pull being a bit more than idea...overall fit and function is excellent! The slide racks cleanly, and locks back manually using the same small slide mounted button. The gun will also lock back on an empty mag, and as with an original, the operator then manually locks the bolt open before removing the magazine. Feeding has been 100%....extraction and ejection has been 100%. The little carbine really works...in fact, compared to all the feeding problems my new manufacture Inland had when trying out different makes of magazines, this thing is a true joy to shoot, because it does with utter reliability! Take down is the same as an original with a few differences. Removed the barrel band, upper hand guard, then life the entire action up and out of the stock. Unlike an original, the recoil spring and rod cannot be removed in conventional fashion. The process is to draw back the slide until the little tang in the rear aligns with the slot in the receiver (this is the same as an original) then lift up and out to separate the slide from the bolt, while at the same time rotating the front portion to unlatch it from the guide and ease everything forward. Then the recoil spring and rod come free, and the bolt comes out the top. To separate the trigger housing requires a punch and hammer to tap out the roll pin at the front. Even the plastic mags appear well-made, and certainly work very well. Checking Chiappa's website I found them for sale for less than $20 which is quite reasonable. There are a lot of things to like about this little rifle...it's feather light, easy handling, and even with a 3-9x40 scope mounted to the thoughtfully including .22 "tip-off" grooves on the receiver, it's still light and compact.

yes it is ca legal because it is a rimfire (22LR) Permitted:
✔*******All rimfire caliber rifles with a magazine capacity of 10 rounds or fewer (e.g.: .22LR, .17HMR, etc.)
are permitted, excluding rifles with tubular magazines in lever-action firearms, which do not have
magazine restrictions. Rimfire caliber rifles are not considered “assault weapons” and can have
    features that centerfire rifles cannot.
