Buds was great, this is the fifth maverick I have bought over the years, never had an issue with one until now, if I can even call this an issue. When I got the gun home I noticed the pins on the shell elevator weren't in the holes in the reciever, had to take the gun apart to put the part in the gun where it belongs, I cleaned the excess oil from the factory, like I should do with a new gun, but don't always do. Functions fine now like every maverick l have ever owned. The action is a little rough on it( not terrible) if it's like the others I have owned it should smooth out nice in a couple hundred rounds. Even though I had to take the gun apart and not simply toss the barrel on it, still giving 5 stars, and would recommend

Right out of the box Accuracy. I’m keeping 2 inch groups at 100 yards from Bench rest very impressive for the price

Similar to the feedback shared by others, my impression is that this is a very solid firearm. Very much like my Mossberg 500. There are differences that have been thoroughly discussed and easily found on YouTube, but I don’t detect any less quality. For me, the different safety mechanism stands out. I prefer the Mossy’s tang safety over the Maverick’s crossbolt safety in front of the trigger guard, primarily because it is much easier to see during typical handling of the gun. Easier to perform a visual verification to ensure the safety is engaged when it should be. I’ve only run 2 & 3/4 Federal Power Shok sabots through it. Shoots straight, cycled cleanly, no failures. Recoil is pronounced. It’s a 12 gauge slug gun so that’s not unexpected, but it is heavy. My only basis for comparison is my wood stock smooth bore 500 with Remington sluggers. The Maverick kicks harder, according to my shoulder. I installed a Limbsaver airtech recoil pad that is essentially identical in thickness and profile to the original, but can’t yet comment on any reduction in felt recoil. I bought this as a dedicated deer hunting gun with the expectation that I’d not be reaching out much past 75 yards. However, the iron sights aren’t great. I’ll be installing a saddle mount with a rail and a red dot. In hindsight, for my intended purpose I would have spent the additional $ for a Mossberg 500 with the integrated scope mount for the ease of installing the optic and my preference for the Mossy’s safety. In the end though, it’s a sound and solid gun and overall I recommend it without hesitation for it’s quality and value.
