I shoot both skeet and sporting clays competition and I have never ran across on at a shoot. I think they would be a good low cost option to see if you were going to enjoy the clay target games if you don't already have a good auto loader that will work I would worry about the availability of parts in a comp gun because as a high volume shooter you will wear out and Break parts for sporting you can find good used beretta 390 sporting guns for less money for skeet I would look at a older tube set

most comp shooters would pass it over as a serious gun because of the 28 inch barrels most current skeet shooters use a 30 or 32 in O/U tube set (brileys tube set fitted to the gun is another $1600.00+ dollars) or they use a auto in the 12 ga event. Sporting clays the 32 and even some 34 inch barrels are the rage
