Another great mossberg shotgun. I do personally like mossberg pumps better than remington pumps. Remingtons are a little more solidly built but I find the cycling more smoother on the Mossberg's and for these combo barrel deal the Mossberg's are $130 or more cheaper than the 870. Bud's has been taking about 2 to 3 weeks to get guns to me but never got a bad gun from them. They used to only take 4 or 5 days. But they got good deals. Really like this make an offer option they got now.

This is a reliable shotgun, that's for sure. Caveman simple, as people say. But don't write people off when they say that it's a few notches below the Remington 870 in terms of workmanship. It feels like a cheap gun. The wood feels cheap, especially. The plastic trigger group is a concern also - I'm not biased against plastic, but this feels particularly bad, especially the pin holding the trigger group in the receiver. I have some doubts about the long term durability, but I'm hoping it lives up to the Mossberg 500 reputation in that regard.

Overall, I wish I'd gone with the Remington 870, or maybe an older model Mossberg. But this will work for my purposes. The barrel changeout is easy, and takedown isn't too bad. The stock is long for a home defense weapon, but perfect for recreational shooting. I'm ordering a youth length stock for it, but gun fit is different from person to person, so don't let that keep you from buying this gun. Just something to consider.

Like I said, it's reliable. It shoots everything. I like the 500 design, especially the shell elevator. I'm disappointed in the quality, but hopeful about long term reliability.

Not a bad gun for the money. You get everything in the picture including the pistol grip. Have put everything through it including slugs without any problem. Barrels change out quick and easy. Comes with three different chokes. Only drawback is the cheap looking wood that Mossberg uses on this gun, so 1 star deduction for that. Otherwise can't go wrong.

This Mossberg 54169 combo is a great deal. I ordered on Sunday & received it on Wed. I took it out & ran 15 shells through the long barrel with all 3 chokes. I fired #7 1/2 & 00 through it & the gun functioned flawlessly. The wood on my gun looks great but is much lighter in color than as pictured. The gold colored trigger is a nice touch & looks good with the wood stock & gold bead sight. The bluing on my long barrel is very nice but on the short barrel there is about 2 inches near the bead sight that has 'swirling' in it. I look forward to shooting this one often. This was my third purchase from Buds Gun Shop & it was as easy as the last two.

Great gun! Could not ask for more in a shotgun. The only problem I had was that getting the stock off was a lot of effort, the stock bolt is understandably tight, but it makes the process of putting the pistol grip on arduous.
