The first trip to the range we did not have a good experience with the conversion kit. Not sure whether to blame the ammunition or the pistol. My guess is that the pistol needs more break in time. I was using Remington and Winchester copper plated hollow points. Had many failure to feed and failure to eject problems. bought some CCI mini mag round nose lead bullets. Waiting for the weather to get warmer before we can go to the range. It also seemed that once in a while, we could get two or three bullets to work. And then the magazine seemed to have an issue with feeding. I’m not going to give up on this pistol because I like it so much.

This is an excellent conversion kit. Great accuracy. I recommended to Ducks Unlimited for a potential drawing. Also recommended to RMEF since they sponsor the Camp Guard pistol by Kimber

The Good: 1. I love the sights. 2. The match grade barrel is a nice touch. 3. This kit is VERY accurate and I can shoot bulls eyes out rapidly with no problem. The Bad: 1. The plug is made of cheap plastic and will scratch / break easily. 2. The recoil spring is sub-par and barely functions. 3. The bushing is extremely coarse and will scratch the shit out of the slide (even after applying Hoppe's T-3 gun oil). The bushing is not even in the same league as a normal Kimber 1911 bushing and it makes it a PITA to break down since it sticks. 4. The extractor causes frequent FTE's (this happens shooting the recommend ammo). 5. The Kimber 22 magazine is the cheapest mag I have ever used in my entire life.The mag spring is off center and it's way too light. Additionally the magazine lips are horrible and cause FTL's. 6. The cheap aluminum slide scratches if you just look at it the wrong way. 7. This kit was semi reliable the first time I took it out. The second time I took it out, I had many FTL's and FTE's. I was using this conversion kit while instructing a new shooter at the range and this kit was an embarrassment. I'm so happy I brought my Glock and M&P with me that day. The Ugly: Kimber obviously cut corners with everything minus the barrel and slights. If you want a 1911-22 then buy the Kimber Rimfire Super. If you want to save money at the range and have an accurate 22 without all these problems, then just buy a browning Buckmark. I wish I would have just picked up the Buckmark instead of paying for this kit. I would gladly spent $100 more for something reliable. This kit is not built to last and is simply not worth $300.

This is a good product if it fits your gun but please be aware that it does not work on all 1911s. It does not fit my RIA Tactical nor my Desert Eagle 1911 as the slide jams on the rails on both. It does, however, function perfectly on my SA Range Officer. I have also seen it work on other Rock Islands which leads me to believe it is an individual gun issue and not a brand issue.

This is a great conversion kit. I bought it at the same time as I did my Rock Island 1911 tactical (my first 1911). I won't pretend to be an expert because I simply am not. I just did EXTENSIVE research on the Internet before making these purchases and I recommend doing the same. It fit right on without any adjustments needed. 400 or so rounds through the pipe with CCI minimags and Federal bulk ammo. It shoots great with this ammo. Shot a bit to the left and down out of the box, but all it took was a couple of clicks to make the sights just right. Gotta love those adjustable sights. I didn't really believe that it would help much with my trigger pull. I was definitely wrong about that. It relieves the anticipation of a big .45 kick. Overrall a great product and highly recommended for all 1911 owners.

Got this kit this morning and took it to the range after ridding it with extra oil and mating it with my colt combat commander series 70 receiver.I shot around 200 rounds of 36 grain copper coated hollow points as recommended, and gosh, it shot like a dream. No problem at all. Now i can shoot all I want with .04 cents a shot. rather than putting a lot of money with the cal.45. It is very accurate. It groups @ 2 inches at 25 yards unmounted. recoil is very light. This kit is fun to shoot. The only comment I have on this is that the sight are all black. no white dots or any thing. just plain black. I have to paint the front sight white so I can adjust the sights. Otherwise, it is a good buy. Buds guns shop is a real pro. Their delivery system is on time, as promised. Very professional. Keep it up guys.
