Manufacturing Issue: The first PPKs I received from Buds came quick and as expected. I inspected the firearm at the FFL and went right to the range. The gun ran great. The only issue I had was it failing to return to battery after 150 rounds (gun just needed to be cleaned). Then I started the rather simple break down to clean the gun and I noticed a crack in the frame. Directly behind the hammer at the top of the beaver tale was an 1/8" crack that I did not notice in the light at the FFL. Having accepted the gun, I decided to reach out to Smith and Wesson to get a fix in place or at least make sure there were no structural issues. Long story short Walther (Uramex) now handles the problem guns. They sent me a new PPK/s a week later after I sent mine in to them for evaluation. I received the gun and changed out the recoil and firing pin springs with Wolff springs and put a nice set of Hogue grips on. Reliability: I've ran 10 different kinds of ammo (Corbon, UMC, Winchester White Box, Winchester Supreme Elite, Winchester PDX1 , Black Hills, PMC, Blazer, buffalo bore, browning court) through the weapon and could not find a kind it didn't like. I just got through 700 rounds with the gun and have had 3 malfunctions. All 3 related to magazine issues. 2 failure to ejects with the magazine not properly seated (my fault). Note that some after market grips (I used Hogue) may require sanding down the finger extension on the maginze to seat it properly. The failure to feed occured when the grit built up under the magazine/slide catch and the second to last round kept the slide open - this was round 200/200 that did not feed after a continuous hour of shooting. No other issues. Function: The second gun's trigger was not quite as good but still not bad. I recommend using some polish on the feed ramp and polishing the contacts between the frame and the slide. Overall, this gun runs great and functions as it should. A lot of folks think the .380 is a "baby round" but if you haven't shot one you might be surprised or at least I was. You can easily shoot this gun all day at the range (recoil will not be an issue) but you might like gloves after the first 100 rounds. The metal backstop of the gun will begin to dig into your webbing and feel a little uncomfortable. Accuracy: This gun is awesome in the accuracy department - Cloverleafs at 10 yards, under an inch at 25 yards, and I can hit a silhouette target every time at 100 yards free hand. Really, I shoot his as good/better than my Super Blackhawk Hunter , and Glock 17. Summary: This gun is extremely accurate and seems very reliable. I'm panning using this for CCW when the weather is warmer and weekend plinker. Awesome gun.

I have been completely and utterly pleased with this gun. Fit and finish are great, and it was exactly what I expected. I love the way the gun fits in my hand, the accuracy is great, and the weight tells me that I have a solid piece of material in my hand when shooting or carrying it. I will be using this as my primary carry weapon when I get the classes taken. I purchased this gun and the Taurus Judge the same day, and it is mainly for elderly parents that will use it for home defense... Overall this is a great, accurate, wonderfully well made gun that deserves better attention that it gets. It's not one of the cheap polymer guns that permeate the market, but I don't want a gun that feels like plastic just to save the weight of the carry option. I have and will continue to order from Bud's. For those that like classic and well made guns, even for women, this gun is an excellent choice.

I just got back from the range and I absolutely LOVE this firearm. It's blow-back design is dead accurate! I was shooting from 12 ft. out to 25 ft. My wife is a novice shooter and she was very accurate with it as well. It fed reliably with everything I put through it, whether it was FMJ, HB or HP, except CCI Blazers. It did not like the aluminum casing. I can't say I do either but it was cheap and you get what you pay for. Recoil was fine, although the backstrap was wearing the hide off my hand. I tried using the Pachmayr grips for this particular S&W model but the removable backstrap kept coming loose. Otherwise, the grips were nice. Probably will just leave the backstrap part of the grips off. This firearm would be great as a backup gun or for summer carry when you want something a little lighter and more concealable. Overall, a fantastic little pistol!

Very nice little weapon. Cleaned it right after getting it home. Perfect condition right out of the box. You could hardly tell it had even been test fired. Tear down is very simple as is assembly. Took it to the range and fired over 200 rounds of ammo consisting of PMC, Monarch FMJ and 20 rounds of hollow point. It handled all with no problem. Only after 200 rounds did I get it to not want to return to battery, but this was because it needed to be cleaned and no fault of the gun. I was surprised at the accuracy and pleased at the lack of break-in problems. It's comfortable in my hand and recoil is fine. Highly recommend.

Impressive and stout for a .380 acp with a nice, sleek look and feel. I was surprised that Smith & Wesson's quality control team released it with so many sharp, rough edges. I spent an hour using fine sand paper to easily correct the problem, which S&W should have done at the factory. I experienced regular cartridge feeding malfunctions at the range, but attribute them to an expected break-in period...for now. Will update after next range trip.
