Brass coating encases the steel case. This design allows the ammunition to perform like a brass case at a fraction of the cost of brass cased factory ammo. Berdan primed. 500 rounds per case.

FANTASTIC cheap ammo for my MINI-30 and SKS. Never any feeding or extracting issues (5-, 10-, and 20-rd ruger mags in the Mini), and only one F2F in over 500 rounds fired.
MUCH better than Brown Bear or Silver Bear -- both of those have nonstop feeding problems in my mini-30 and SKS. And this is only like 5% more expensive.
If you have a 7.62x39mm rifle, especially Mini-30, you can't get better quality than this for steel cased ammo.
NOTE: the bullets have a thin steel jacket between the lead and the copper, which WILL attract a magnet if your range checks. Just bring a box of nonmagnetic premium ammo just to get past the magnet test :) Once you are on the range shooting, the Golden Bear looks just like regular brass.

Great ammo for the money. I have a new James River Armory Zastava M72B1 RPK carbine (AK-47 variant), and zeroed my rifle's iron sights with this ammo. The Golden Bear seems accurate. I'm having feeding issues with my rifle, and have not determined the cause. I use Croatian 30-round magazines with followers that work with Yugoslavian AKs' bolt-hold-open feature. Golden Bear powder burns dirty, so clean your rifle after shooting 300 or so rounds with this ammo.

A:Karl, this loading has a Bi-Metal Jacket Note: The projectile is a lead core however the jacket is bi-metal and it contains some steel. As such it would attract a magnet.See 2 more answers |
